Today's Work - v. Droptop Cobra Stang & Product Collection (56k Warning!)

Due to this piss-poor weather, I had to reschedule all of my work thus far this week. However, I worked around the drizzle/rain to get my Dad's 2001 Cobra Mustang done.

For the interior, I did my Oxy mix for the carpets, Woolite mixture to clean everything else. 303 on plastic/vinyl/rubber and Lexol conditioner on the leather.

The car was last detailed about 8 months ago with just a polish and S100 and was beading amazingly. It only has 40,000 miles on it and is a garage queen, seeing no precipitation of any form. However, when he drives it, he takes it to work a lot of the time which is 90 miles round-trip, all highway. Therefore the front bumper and edge of the hood are pretty beat up and pitted. The car had a bunch of scratches down the side from neglect in the crammed garage as well as dragging things on/off the rear bumper. My final steps were:

-Mother's Gold Wash

-#83 DACP via Rotary @ 1500 rpm with LC Cutting Pad on front bumper, and spot scratches

-#80 Speed Glaze via Rotary @ 1500 rpm with LC Polishing Pad on entire car

-Wolfgang Pre Cleaner by hand

-Wolfgang Sealant by hand

-TOL's Wheel Wash, then Auto Magic Seal-It (new product try out) on rims

-Poorboy's Bold 'N Bright on Tires

-AA in wheel wells

-303 on all exterior plastic and top

For anyone who cares, the mod list is as follows:

-18x9" Cobra R Chrome Rims (Replicas :( )

-Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Tires (245/40 in front, 275/35 in back)

-Eibach Sportline Springs and camber kit (forget brand)

-Cross Drilled/Slotted Rotors (forget brand), Green Stuff Pads

-3.73 gears

-Urethane Suspension Bushings

-MAC CAI

-Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust

-'03 Foglight Upgrade

-Custom Speedster Cover (not shown)

-Rollbar w/light

-Cobra Aluminum Pedal Covers

-Billet Grille

-Xenon Purple Heads/Fogs (not ricey, very slight hue of purple)

License Plate Explanation - KILABYTE - it's a Cobra, like the snake...also, he owns a computer business, so it kinda fit twice :D

Stay tuned for my product collection :)

The top of the rear bumper cover is a bad spot for collecting swirl marks and scratches on late model Mustangs. Dirt really collects there because of all the water and crap that drains from around the trunklid.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the compliments.

It runs a 13.3 out of the box. I think it could pull high 12's as is (better stickies, bolt-ons, higher gears) with a good driver/launch. Sits right with Corvette's as my Dad has told me :) .

Nice aresnal I must say! Any chances of seein a shot of the trunk fully loaded? I have a truck, how you fit all that into an integ is beyond me.....(BTW cobra looks nice too hehe)

Thanks for the compliments...

BlueRanger: I fit about 1/3 of the stuff in the trunk :D...I also have my rotary, 2 50ft extension cords, a shop vac, buckets, and pads that all fit somehow. I bring a usual set amount of stuff. Some is for refills, some is backup, some is for special circumstances :D

There's my VM and Blackfire!!!!!

Sean, I really do mean this when I say: you are one of the best detailers on this board. Somebody posted, asking about detailers in the NYC area and I looked through posts of cars you have done and they are all awesome. I knew you were on LI but I still recommended they contact you since I knew that your work would make them happy. :)

This car is no less--awesome. :)

how do you like the gliptone polishes and wax? where did you buy them?

btw, just an opinion, but the cobra would look better with a grille delete instead of the chrome grille

nice work. nice looking cobra too. :D

i just would like to verify what you did to the rear bumper:

DACP followed by #80 followed by the Wolfgang Twins?

thanks, my rear bumper has some swirls, not as bad as that cobra's, and was afraid to get too aggressive with it (wasn't sure if the paint is too thin there) and i guess if you could use a rotary on it, my PC shouldn't be too much. sorry, i'm babbling. :D

I really like the work you do Sean but your pic size is just killing me! Excellent work from what I have seen so far though. I was going to get broadband while my kids were in town but since neither one is 18, they wouldn't send a tech for the install and it is just too hard right now to plan it based on when and if it will rain.

Anyway, nice improvement on the Mustang....and expect a package either Saturday or Monday. ;)

Thanks for all the compliments. They do mean a lot and they keep me posting regularly here :D

Corey: I have yet to give Blackfire a shot since I don't have much time to futz around with my car (I try everything on that first). I'm just floored about your compliment. Thanks a bunch, I appreciate the marketing help :D

Louisiana Jeeper: Gliptone is a Long Island based company. They have a huge warehouse full of gallons, 5 gallons, and 55 gallon supplies plus mixing machines and stuff. My friend and I asked to take a tour and they thought we were crazy. Anyways, the ProBuff I enjoy a lot...It's a Cleaner Wax but works pretty easily, pretty close to VM I think. The Glaze It removes swirls and I think it's like Speed Glaze. I have to try it out more, but when I used it last was almost a year ago (have been on a Meguiar's Polish craze since then) and I was able to remove swirls by hand via Scott's routine.

About the grille, it was his first mod. He had the 5-star 17" Cobra polished wheels (on the new GT's) and it matched. I like it since I've never seen one on a stang around here (there are A LOT) and so does he. To each his own I guess.

JCrawford: You got it...Water:Woolite to clean all plastic, vinyl, rubber, leather, and alcantara (car suede).

hirosh: In the pic, it is right after DACP...Obviously the shine level increased after 80+ WG Twins. I went light with pressure at first but on the horiztontal part there was plenty of paint there. I just kept the buffer moving and I was fine. No worries with the PC :)

Scott: I'm trying for ya buddy. I have the size down under 800x600 and they are all less than 250kb each. This was a lot of pics on this post from my products. I will be easy next time...Hope the pics were worth it though :D . I hear ya with the rain thing. The days are just gloomy with spotty rain...It's hard to plan customers let alone a cable guy.

Looking forward to the package. Thanks!
