1997 Toyota Camry - All I will say is that the paint was as dry as Death Valley! NXT wash

Clay - AMINO UV Polish & #80 didn't do anything to it.

So I tried SSR2.5 with a polishing pad @6 and that worked.

PwC @5 with another polishing pad.

AMINO UV Sealant with a blue polishing pad @4.

Hot Shine on everything black.

Honestly, after seeing Sean's blue Mustang... I don't feel like posting these pictures. :(

Not too shabby. Had it been a darker colored car, the pics might have shown the result better.

Why the hell do people buy white cars? That's so inconsiderate!

Thanks Glenn. In person the car looks really shiny and wet. The owner was very pleased but by the time I was done, it was getting dark so the pix don't look that good.

Hey - with a white car you don't have to worry about waterspots :D

white is one of those colors where being there in person is kind of a must BUT it defeinately does look much much better. i can only imagine how smooth and wet it feels and looks in person. if it is up to half of your other details, i'm sure it looks awesome:)

my next car will be silver. the white nissan from saturday showed the swirls.

all 3 cars were gray in person but the camera can't show it. O well.

My next.. erm, first car will have (ahem already has) clear coat failure :(

I'd only consider a white car if it had some nice pearl flake in it. On my parent's project '59 Dodge, the fins, roof, and lower body panels will have a "mother of pearl" paint, accented by Yorktown Blue (Pontiac color) on the rest of the car. My Mom's last car was silver. I like her new car more because the red is just so much more rewarding when it looks good :)

Nice work. White isn't that bad if its handled right! A white car with the right combinations could be quite stunning!

thanks! & I agree, although personally I will never own a white car unless it was given to me for free. :)

Results look great!

I really hate working with bone dry paint...However, using a polish like #80 helps rejuvinate it with the oils.

Pics look sweet too...I feel bad taking photos when the sun is gone, but you feel you worked soo hard that you have too. I don't think I'd get a white car, but I may have a chance to pick up a pearl white vehicle for a sweet deal which I may jump on...If only they were more photogenic :(

#80 didn't cut it - looked better but not good enough on this particular car. That's why I tried ssr2.5. That did it. I was thinking using #80 after ssr2.5 but don't have too much of it and want to have it when I have to remove swirls and doing only 2 steps. I really like #80

You are right about wanting to take pictures after all that work.

On the other hand IKNOW that you will make white look stunning - or any other color for that matter. Did you get the sealant yet? (Postal 1st Class) and an 8x11 envelope

Great job Thomas! VERY shiny! My parents are white car fans; the cars never look gross (like my Miata), but at the same time, they rarely look shiny and wet. Your car, on the other hand, looked GREAT!

I'd detailed my parents' 91 Caprice (white) a few times for them. There were a few things I didn't like about working on white:

On a bright day, you get "snow blind" really quick, and can't see anything.

When you apply the products, it's hard to tell where you need to concentrate your efforts, and when it's time for removal, it's hard to tell where there is still haze that needs removed.

That being said:

When the car was done you almost couldn't look directly at it (even from a distance) if it was in the sun, the finish was that blinding. When you did get an angle where you could look at the car, it was as wet and glossy as any other color. The deep finish combined with the small amount of chrome and black accents and the dressed tires really made the car look sharp.

I might even consider white for my next car....maybe :nixweiss

***On a bright day, you get "snow blind" really quick, and can't see anything.***

Tell me about it! While the sun was out in the beginning of the detail, I couldn't see much except """yellow strings""' when I was looking at the paint.
