Today's detail - black Jag.

yes he is a nice guy, not snobby at all, but obsessed over the car :D - it does have stone chips unfortunately.

Gave me a nice tip as well and as I said in the first post, he wants me to take care of it regularly. (wash and everything)

Another A+ job there T. How do you get swirls like that out with #80 and a polishing pad? Is the Meg's polishing pad a little bit to soft for that kind of detail? Does the CMA white pad have a little bit more bite? Looks incredible, I wish I could detail a car with curves like that. :D

thanks Sean & NavindraLR

yes, got it on 10.06.2004.! (my birthday)

I am sure I'll be fine with it, but want to work on my own car first with the makita. :(

PS: I used the same combo on the silver audi (pwc & pink wax) and I tell you, those too also make the paint smooooooooooooth

i was wondering why u havent used it yet... it would have knocked those swirls/scratches right out.. but i guess you're still getting aquaninted with it... hows that going?

Nice job.

My 2005 S-Type Jag came with dealer-installed swirl marks and scratches as bad as (or slightly worse than) your "before" photo.

I took it back and they made it worse. (of course)

In the end, the only way I could get rid of the swirls was #83 on a rotary, then #83 again on the PC, then #80, then #7, then finally NXT wax. 12 hours total.

Dealers should be shot doing that to such a nice car. (Well ANY car, now that I think about it).

You are too kind, thank you.

1 - I was lucky in that the paint wasn't too hard.

2 - I think most of us learned this combo from Scottwax, except that he uses meguiar's polishing pad, so the two brands maybe similar in their cutting abilities.

3 - speed 6, and press on it. (that is what I do) in some areas I had to do 2 passes but most swirls came out with 1 try.

4 - believe me! If I can do it, you can do it.

thanks again!

beautiful job. jags must be so nice to work on, polishing such curvey lines and such.

thanks hirosh.

I swear to you, I am always pressed for time (yesterday I had massage appointments for example) due to me being too slow. I guess I should really get to bed earlier. So most of the time I am not really relaxed. I wish I was.

I'd say I prefer flat. It is just easier, but the end result is better of course with a car like that.

I am sorry! Don't you just "hate" those who are so clueless?

Thanks!

well, a couple of weeks ago I was going to work on my car but the weather people called for rain so I didn't work on my car that day. :( Now the rotary is sitting on the back seat. It is not going at all.

thanks steve!

He called me friday afternoon and I told him that I'd drive to his place. He is checking to see if there is outside water/power availability. Suppose to call me back soon, since he wants it done this week. I'll keep you posted. (thanks)
