Boy am I pooped. I had to break out the yellow pad for this one, which is unusual for me. I very seldom use yellow. The process:

1.NRWS

2. Tried Orange pad with Four Star Body Shop Medium Cut (just wasnt enough)

3. Yellow with FSBS-MC

4. Orange with 1Z Metallic Polish

5. UPP

6. Tires, FS Vinyl/Rubber Protectant

7. Trim, FS Tire Gel

8. Interior, Charliesoap, FS Vinyl/Rubber Protectant.

9. Wheels, Duragloss All Wheel Cleaner.

10. Total time, 5 hours!!!

Heres some before and afters.....

Silver has got to be one of the most difficult to photograph, especially with a cheapo camera, a whopping 2 Megapixels.....

am not familiar with the cutting product but am a fan of yellow cutting pads. Must have been some hard paint to make the yellow pad come out. I have only detailed one M3 and that was very hard to get the swirls out 100 %.

Seeing this thread SHINE is the word of the day.

I dont think Ive ever encountered BMW paint so hard.......I think the only other car I used yellow on was a Acura, and that was just for rear deck repairs with briefcase scratches.....

The FS Body Shop line has to be there biggest sleeper product. I love the stuff......

Excellent swirl removal. :)

I've run across a few BMWs with rock hard paint too. For some reason, they seem to respond better to Meguiars 80 series polishes.

Thats another problem Scott, Im trying to comsolidate my products down to maybe two brands. I now take 2 large totes with me filled with Sprayway, Optimum, Duragloss, Clearkote, Four Star and some others......

Im trying to eliminate the things I dont use too often...Maybe thats not a possibility!

Nice Patrick,

It is hard to do much with Silver IMO, similar to white, ya know.

Yeah, get swirls out, and gloss, etc., but not much to get excited about for me anyways

when I see that the clients car is any of those two colors.

And Black, wholly molly. BTW, stuff worked out great that I ordered from you. That Duragloss line is really something else w/ respect to ease of use, removal and results.

Which product do you use for light scratch and swirl removal in that line ? I found some 101 and thought that would do the trick but just wasnt "cutting" it.

I ended up going to some FK1 polish to get rid of them, then cut back over and did the DG process.

If I may surmize, I did three cars, all with DG (101,105,aw) and they turned out beautiful.

But, for corrective work, I ended up needing to use other product line. Has this been your experience (anyone can chime in on this).

And I REALLY did not mean to highjack your thread.

Again, job well done as I have come to expect from you !

NoBuff, DG actually makes (but doesnt market) a product called "Pink Buffing Gel" that is a light cut compound. This following Infiniti didnt need anything harsher then DG PBG, and I followed up with 105. I totally agree with your finding about the DG line as well.

I use yellow pads on almost every car except exotics. I deal with a lot of black cars though, and a lot of them are rashed pretty good. Here's an e46 M3 I used a yellow pad with Hyper Compound. The clearcoat was like wax paper before I got started. The scrapes (you can see one on the back) were a PITA.

Parick- Nice to see somebody using the 1z MP/UPP combo! Was that the "Pro" version of MP?

That sure turned out nice...sheesh, I gotta get back to working on my E36, you guys are performing miracles on 'em and all I'm doing is whining about mine :o
