To try DuraGloss, I need?????

CharlesW

The Rainmaker
Since I already have several swirl removers, Meguiar's #83, #82, #80 and Poorboy's SSR 2.5, SSR 2, SSR1.
Several cleaner/polishes, Klasse AIO, 4 Star UPC, Poorboy's PP and PwC, S100 SEC.
What do I need to try DuraGloss?
My thought is #105 DPP and possibly the #601 PBA. I do think I remember reading that a member used Meg's #80 and the DuraGloss rep told them the PBA wasn't needed after the #80. Considering tha #80 is a polish and glaze, it surprised me a little that the #105 could be used over it.
My present process is #80, Klasse AIO, 4 Star UPP.
I'm thinking that #80, Klasse AIO, DG 105 would be a similar process.
Since the DG 105 has some cleaning ability, the Klasse AIO step may be redundant.

Charles

Charles...

you can use the AIO as a base...the cleaner in 105 is mild...not near AIO cleaners..and AIO would be a fine base also....I have used AIO as a base when I ran out of the PBA...and they car I did still looks fine...9 weeks now..

I apply by hand...so I do really do not get the cleaning action from 105..it is pretty thin and using a PC will soak up alot of product..I use about a 1/2 oz for my truck..it spreads a long way...

I was the one who posted about that. Jerry told me that I could put 105 on the M80 I don't know about AIO remember these guy's are chemist and know what this stuff is made of. When you decide what polish you are going to use call them and ask for recommendations. Because it works over M80 don't mean it could be used over all polishes.
I have put 105 over Menersa FpII but done that last week so can't say if it affected durability. I have put their AW
increditable product.

Charles what ever you decide i think you gonna be happy with the final out come. I was like you with my UPP. I think DG may fill your void. Good luck have fun and post your pics..

Thanks for all the helpful information.
Now I just have to find some place that carries it. The Car Quest store didn't have DG #105 and the Auto Value store didn't have any Durgloss products.
Right now it looks like I'm going to have to order it direct from Duragloss.
Ordering online is no problem, but I thought I should be able to buy an OTC product OTC. I guess I just expect too much,:)

Charles

my carquest didn't cary what i needed either. If i was to place another order i would order directly from DG..

When I tried DG for the first time I didn't know if I would like it so only bought what I had to have to try it but now I buy direct from DG. Last week I got a gallon of FC&S-Aqua wax & soap 2 bottles of 601 and another bottle of 105.
Shipping is $ 4.95 for all of that but if you order one bottle it is the same price for shipping.I ordered enough that I won't need any more for a year or longer so the shipping is no big deal. A bottle of 105 with shipping is still no more than what a bottle of NXT will cost.
Here is a link with photos of my car with Duragloss on it.

Yeah I know I'm not going to ever make a living as a photographer

I need to try Duragloss, however I haven't been able to find it either. Although it says Napa carries it, I will have to check there.

My local NAPA don't carry it. They said that they would have to buy a case and since their was not a demand for it they would not order it.
I told him if he stocked it and people tried it once he would not be able to sell what he Carry's now. DG is a far Superior product.
I'm going to another car show tomorrow we will see how the DG does, last week I won best of show.

Definitely agree with everyone, try AW. My Carquest store do not carry the AW by the gallon (cannot order it by gallon). After trying the 16oz, I have no problem ordering direct as it still saves in the long run.

CharlesW, order everything you need at one time direct (get AW by the gal.) with the flat shipping you will beat/equal the local taxes.

The DG site looks like the best deal right now. That shipping price is awfully hard to beat.
A gallon of any wax would be an awful lot of wax for me. How much of the AW are you using per application?

Charles

CHARLES since AW is intended to be used on a wet surface and it would get diluted with water it is a very concentrated product. If you want you can cut it with a little water. I use it right out of the bottle and spread it thin. I like the way it goes on that way and it will increase the gloss on whatever is on the car, sealant or wax. I like to apply AW with a MF Towel I soak it with water then ring it as dry as I can get it and put AW on with it. That way you don't have the towel soaking up your AW and it spreads really fast and easy. I never timed myself but I bet I can wax my car with AW in less then ten minutes. Really fast and easy to use.

So, would you use 4 or 5 oz. per application? I was thinking more like 2 or 3 which would let me get 7 to 10 applications from the 22 oz. bottle.
I buy APC's, QD's and S&W by the gallon, but that seems like a lot of wax.

Charles

Charles....2 oz seems reasonable ..I just give a full pull of the trigger to each big panel..some times just a half pull on smaller panels like the tail gate .. the door..hood and roof get a full pull while gently moving it across while spraying......once your clothe gets some on it it spreads farther....also like Bart said....you can cut it also....I have done 50/50 and it still works great...but for winter I will do it full strength...

The sprayers they use are very godd ones....very fine mist...worth saving..lol...

I am sure you will enjoy the looks of the 105 and AW...I just took a picture of my hood and it is very wet looking..do not know if I can post it here..lol...

cars I have done in June..look as good as the day I did them..and they just have 2 coats of 105 and 1 of the AW...

I bought a gallon of the 105 and give evryone I do a car for a 4oz bottle and instructions on how to maintain and they buy their own AW and FC&C...I draw the line there..lol...

I buy the AW and FC&S by the gallon also...

I did all the windows on the house with AW..and now no spots and just use a hose to clean them..lol...

you will enjoy it...the finished look is one to beat

Thanks to all that responded including those that offered help via a PM.
The order will be for #105 TPP, #601 PBA and #951 AW (22 oz.:))
Actually the gallon of AW is not much more expensive than many QD's. Less in fact than some I own.:)
I just don't think I want to have another gallon of something until I'm sure I will make use of it.

Charles

I would agree with AL the sprayer are very good. I use less than 2 o/z on the vette but if you have a SUV then you could easily use 2 ounce.
Duragloss recommends using AW when you wash the vehicle once ever 30 days that would be a bottle every year. I have 7 vehicles so I bought a gallon shelf live is three to five years so I will use it and it is $26.80 by the gallon. Try a bottle then decide if you want to keep using it.
I'm betting you will like the AW it is really good

 Since I managed to drag this major $27 purchase out to 20 posts, I probably should. I'll probably use it on my wife's red GTP since the white van doesn't really pop no matter what I have had on it.
