OK,

So if you were going to use a product that on your tires that will detail them BLACK and last the longest, which product have you used. I know it's a matter of personal taste, but there has to be a magic bullet that fills the bill!

I'm not one for the "glossy" look. Others like it and I'm sure you will get some good recommendations.

Anyhow, generally speaking, the gels like Meguiar's Endurance, or 4* Tire Gel seem to last the longest. However nothing seems to last long enough for me! :D Because of that, and the fact I don't really like applying the gels, I usually use a water based protectant. I've had good luck with Zaino's Z16, Poorboy's Bold & Brite, 303 protectant and a couple others. In my opinion, the Z16 is probably the longest lasting of these. The Poorboy's is really nice, as it also cleans (great for RWL tires).

Also, I believe the trick to getting the tires "BLACK", is to get them good and clean before applying "anything"!

One of the best looking, longest lasting products I have used is Stoners' More Shine ... for tires. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it comes in an aerosol can and needs to be sprayed on the tires. I have found it to be much quicker (zero overspray cleanup)to apply tire dressing with an Eagle One Tire Swipe.
My go to product is Poorboys' Bold and Bright ... A little goes a long way, It cleans while dressing the tires, It makes the tires very black, produces a nice semi-gloss finish, but can also be buffed down to a matt finish.
The only downside is that it doesn't last as long as some others.

shining monkey no spitting tire shine is the best ive used. very easy to apply and no sling at all.

IMO. Meguiar's Hot Shine tire spray will give you the gloss look. Not much on durability, but it is cheap and seems to last between washes. I usually apply every wash anyhow since I wash my tires everytime. I tried the endurance and I don't like applying the gel either, but it does last longer.

In order of preference (durability taken into consideration):

1.Zaino Z16 - a white milky solution, very easy to apply and doesn't sling (I always buff the tyres after dressing them),semi gloss look. Lasted me more than one and a half mths in rainy season. Good stuff.Since it was easy to apply and durable, I use it for the weatherstripping as well ;)

2. Meg High Endurance High Gloss - purple gel with grape scent, can be messy to apply leaving the tyres with glossy look. Lasted me more than a month (before I topped it off....just because I wanted to :doh the tyres were still glossy at that point)

WOW-factor:
I quite like 4*'s Ultimate tire gel, just the look I'm looking for, but not so good in durability department, it had barely lasted a week in rainy condition. If you don't mind dressing the tyres regularly, you might want to try this.

And it's one of the safe, water based dressing that is better for your tires and has no issues with harmful sling on your paint. Of these types of dressings, I wouldn't hesitate to call it the best of all the ones I've ever used. :bigups

I would like to try the Poorboys and see how it works. I have used the Adams VRT with great results. Leaves the tires black, but not too shiney. Absolutely no sling off either. I have nothing but good things to say about Adams VRT.

My go to product is BnB. I have also used TOL's grape tire dressing which is pretty good stuff. It leaves a semi gloss provides a decent lasting shine and of course smells like grapes! I have VRT on the way.. hopefully tommarow.. I will try that out and let DC know how that goes.

I agree that if you get this part right, many products will serve you well.

The product I reach for most often is PB's BnB. It works great and gives me the look I like. I also prefer it for my wheel wells. I apply it and allow it to dry w/o buffing. I've tried ArmorAll for the wells, based on the suggestion of some, but it attracts too much dust for me. Though I reserve PB's Natural Look for interior work, before purchasing BnB I used it on tires and liked the look. I haven't tried it myself, but I've seen users post about using PB's Trim Restorer for tires. I've only used it on bumpers.

Meg's Endurance may last, but it is absolutely one of the (if not the) messiest products I've used. OTH Meg's Natural Shine is a nice product that doesn't get it's due, probably because it resides on the consumer product shelf. Meg's #40 is a nice product as well.

Tropi-Care's Premium Tire & Rubber Dressing it also a product worth mentioning. I have used it stand alone and applied on top of 303's Protectant.

Best Gloss: Eagle One Wet Tire
Best Semi-Gloss: Optimum Tire Dressing, Poorboys Bold'n'Bright, Dupont Teflon Tire shine
Wow Factor: No Touch Tire Care High Shine; nice gloss and pretty inexpensive @ Costco
Longest Lasting: So far, the Optimum has lasted the longest...
Biggest Surprise: Dupont Teflon Tire; for an over the counter, it actually is a good product that achieves a fine finish.

I would have to agree. I thought it was a bit gimmicky at first, but I really like the way it looks and it seems to last quite a long time for me. Another good one is Adam's VRT. I have started using it for tires again since I don't have such a "luggy" AT tire now. It doesn't last quite as long as I would like, but it looks really nice, matte & black.

I agree. Got this free after rebate a year or so ago, and it's one of my favorite tire dressings. Great combination of looks, and ease of use. Not a super shiney look, but more of a satin finish.
I apply it to a sponge and wipe it on, instead of spraying directly on the tire. Seems to work better that way, and eliminates any spray on the wheels. Since it's a thin product, it gets in the nooks and crannies easily. I can do all four tires in about 2 minutes.

Wolfgang's tire gel has absolutely monopolized my tire gel selection. If you are looking for a matte dressing that lasts long and will not sling look no further.

Same here. WG is great unless you want it reall glossy. I prefer a matte finish.
