im having issues with the meguaires endurance tire gel, it splatters all over the side of my car, and ive applied it very lightly, what are other tire dressings that give a good shine but wont splatter.

opti-bond here too. meg's hyper dressing seems to fit the bill also, at least it has for me, and you can dial in the look by diluting it to your taste. depends on your budget i suppose, if you got the cash get opti-bond, if not hyper-dressing isnt a bad product.

I've never seen any water based dressing that, once dried, splattered on the paint. I've used Hyper Dressing, Optimum Tire Shine, PB Bold n' Bright, and Armor All Original (what I'm currently using). None sling after having been applied to a clean tire and given adequate drying time.

If you want real shine with depth and no sling, I think you are down to two products. Chemical Guys VRP or Crofgate tire shine. Both are dry to the touch, its as if you took egg whites and painted your tires with them. Everything else I have tried that is water based makes for a nice new looking tire, but nothing that looks as good and shiny as the silicone based crap that slings all over the place.

That's what I was thinking too  I don't mean to be :nono or anything, but it's just never happened that I can recall, and I've used Endurance too (usual choice is Z16).

What about wiping off any excess...if you haven't tried doing that it might make a difference.

Like BigPoppa, I too have never experienced sling with my water-based dressings. My current favorites: Mother's FX, Surf City Garage Beyond Black, Showroom FX White Pearl.

I am looking forward to trying out the new trigger version of Endurance, which is due to be available in stores in January or February. It is supposed to be non-sling.

one water based dressing that i've been happy with and been using since it first came out is the mothers fx tire shine. good stuff...

been using turtle wax Wet and black gel for a couple of years now

i like it because it does not get slung off the tire and onto the paint and its not shiny

it gives a very deep rich black looking sidewall

durability is very good

I like using Zaino Z8 / Optimum Tire Shine and 3D's Ultra Tire Protectant. Here's what 3D looked like after an 80 mile drive on the freeway:

Unlike the boutique dressing, it washes off easy and is so inexpensive you can spray it directly on the tire.

been using hyper dressing for a while (been through a few gallons and want to try something different) and don't care for it on tires but only for the wells/engine, so this may be my next purchase (or univeral protectant) from 3D. not only can one use it for tires, but also dilute it for the wells/engine as well... :Banane44: how are you liking it thus far?

Theres a durability review on the Optimum forum that shows very impressive wear from OptiBond and it won't sling and is water based.

Have used 303 and surf garage beyond black tire pro. Both applied with foam pad. No sling, not too extreme shine, easy application with small quantity. Surf is slightly shinier.

Hey, that *does* look good. TW stuff gets slammed around here almost like some kind of reflex, so I'm glad you posted about the Wet and Black Gel being good stuff.
