Tire Care

What should I use on my tires to keep them looking like new and help keep them from staining? Seems like the mud and dirt stains the tires.

I hate a high gloss shine, just want them to look like new/BLACK.

This is how they usually look:

This is when they were new:

I do not wash this car very much and I do go offroad quite a bit, so mabey that may be the problem

BTW, I have used the following products in the past and was not pleased:

Cleaners:

Bleach White

Simple Green Degreaser

Dressings:

Armorall (too shiney)

Meguire's Endurance? (it's purple) too greasy/thick

thanks

Eagle One tire cleaner is very popular choice, but I also like Mothers Tire & Rubber Cleaner, and am leaning towards that product more now because you're supposed to hose down the tire first, where the EO cleaner is meant to be used on a dry tire. You also use less product this way when you scrub it in. So the Mothers might be a good choice for your dirt-caked tires.

There are LOTS of tire dressing choices. Use the SEARCH feature to help you learn more about cleaning and dressing tires, and check out the Autopia eBook as well.

Something that might be good in your case could be No Touch tire foam (original white can) which has some mild cleaning function while it dresses the tires. It's low-gloss to semi-gloss and would be easy to apply to your knobby tires. I suggest cutting out a wheel shield from cardboard to prevent overspray if you use a foam.

Thanks, I'll try those products out.

As metioned above, I need a product that can be sprayed on (rather than wiped) because the side lugs sticking out on the sidewal make it difficult to wipe a product on.
