Tips for new guy using SSR polishes with 7424

I picked up a PC 7424 kit that included the lake country pads. Since I'm totally new to the 7424 I was thinking of trying out the Poorboys SSR polish lineup first, since I've heard that they are user friendly for first timers. I'm going to pick up the SSR1 and SSR2 to use, and will start out with 1 and work to 2 if necessary. When using the SSR1 do I need to follow up with a finishing pad and polish, what about with SSR2?

What pads what you all reccomend for each? I was thinking of the white pads for SSR1 and the thicker orange pads for SSR2. Does this sound right?

I'm also worried about causing any hazing, which I've heard is from using too much polish and not allowing it to break down. Is it easy to cause micromarring for new 7424 users and the SSRs, or are they user friendly? How much of the SSR should I apply to the pad for a certain area?

Sorry for all of the questions at once, but I just want to know the basics before going at it with this combo.

You have the pad selection right. After using the SSR2, switch to white pad and follow up with SSR1 unless you plan on using something like OPS (optimum poli-seal). Then you can go SSR2, OPS, then wax and it will come out fine.

What is OPS a finishing polish or a sealer?

after using the SSR's for many year's with good results

I have to tell you I think you will be much happier with

Danase swirl abolishers here is a review I did of them:

http://autopia.org/forum/danase/96491-swirl-abolishers-review.html?

if you are going to use the SSR and only get two of them I would get the 2.5 & 1

the 2.5 only has a little more cut but still finishes down good

Do you think the Danase products give better results than the SSRs, or do they just dust less?

How much product of the SSR and Danase products do you typically apply to the pads? I'm still a little confused on what's the right amount. Should it be applied to the pad in 3 areas like a triangle, or a nickel size in the center?

that both work well

but the Danase SA's dust less & are more user freindly

thay have a longer work time so there is a little more room for error

what you first start using the pad you will need to "prime it with a little more product

so I usually just make a circle of polish to do this

once it is primed you will only need a few drops per pannel after that

if you yse more than about 11/2 ouce per car you are using too much

Hey, OPS is a polish/sealer/wax AIO. After I use a more abrassive polish like megs83, I will follow up with OPS and it works awesome. It corrects lightly, protects the paint and gives it the feel of a freshly waxed paint. Its a good all around product. I highly recommend it

the same could be said about Poorboys polish with sealent..

Which I think works better ...

I would also go with SSR2.5 and SSR1.

depending on the severity of the swirls, I would start with SSR2.5 on a polishing pad. If swirls still exist try orange light cutting. Then follow with SSR1 on a polishing pad. SSR1 is not very aggressive at all. But enough to bring luster back up after using a more aggressive polish.

I think you will really like the results from Poorboy's.

Pick up a finishing pad, and some EX, and follow up.

I have had great success using just:

clay magic

PC with Megs 8006 polishing pads

SSR2.5 and SSR1

EX and S100

These are good starting grounds for PC. I still use them from time to time even after 5 years of PC use.
