Tints... Do they save leather?

The Driver

I almost never tint my cars, but my latest volvo seems to be very prone to cracking. (I leatherique every 4 months). I also like the added aspect of a little privacy but my overall question is will the tint ultimately help preserve the leather?

Any input is very appreciated.

Most tints offer UV protection. This should help to some degree.

Be sure you get the sticker on your window. When the police pull you over they more then likely won't write a citation if you have the sticker and your tint passes the % test

NY is 70% :(

Unfortunately there's no way I'll be paying for tint only for them to install 70's. I'm going with 40% + I have a light interior. They usually only bother people with very dark tints. I will try and get a note from the doctor though as my eye's are pretty sensitive.

I'm in NY with 18% I think whatever stock privacy is I matched the front to it and unless you are driving like an idiot they don't bother you

I'm also on the FD and EMS and know a lot of cops but have been pulled over plenty be courteous and kind and they don't go overboard usually

On my explorer I had fronts matched to back. Got pulled over once ever at 10pm on some random street dropping someone off. They measured 11% on both fronts. 90 bucks a window. Other than that one incident I'm a strong advocate of tints. Helps keep the sun out, really cools the inside in the summer and they tie the look of the car together.
