Time to say hello

I've been lurking in the forums for a while now and finally signed up for the forums recently. I am in a few online truck clubs and will be in some shows this year so I need to step up my game detailing the truck. Up to now I have only used locally purchased items (NXT products). I am purchasing a pc 7424 and some Poorboy's products tomorrow. I really hope it works out.

I want to thank everyone that has posted on this site as i have learned alot. :dcrules

Here are some details of my truck that I will be working on:

2005 Chevy Silverado
Imperial blue paint (badly neglected by previous owner)
Dark grey interior (needs a good cleaning)
18" chrome wheels (some minor pitting)
Soft tonneau
The paint was badly neglected and I have taken 2 days off before my first show of the year on 4/48/09 to detail. The hood has fine scratches and the paint on the bed is filled with swirls.

Steps I plan to take to improve the truck:
Good washing
Clay
Poorboy's SSR2.5
Poorboy's SSR1
Poorboys Nattys Blue Paste Wax
303 Aerospace Protectant on the tonneau

I am open for ideas and suggestions if any thinks that is not the right process.

Thanks for reading and thanks for such a great site.

I'm hoping it does. At certain angles the paint has some green and purple hues. Not a pearl coat, much milder. I love the color.

:welcome: looks like you have a solid plan :inspector: ... let me know if you have any questions along the way :)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

I will be using the Porter Cable 7424.

Good deal...just make sure to really work the SSR's in real good....also work in smaller areas so that you can keep good control over the product...looking forward to seeing the results

Thank you for the advise. I will definitely use it. I will take some before and after pics and post them but that will not be until next Friday.

Welcome! Nice lookin' truck...I used to have a 92 full-size Chevy and I loved it. Custom painted, dropped on Bell-tech 4/6 with notched frame, custom wheels, she was sweet. If only I still had her.:hmmm:

Anyway, sounds like your plan should work well. I'm a Poorboy's freak...and I always have good luck with their products. Just take your time and be patient.

Best of luck and be sure to post up pics when you're done!

:welcome:

Thanks, I took off a half day this Thursday and all day Friday to do the detail. Weather is going to be nice so I should have no issues. I will post before and after pics. I just gave it a quick wash yesterday and some of the paint is hurting.

Before you start on the paint I would clean the engine bay because you will get water on the body while pressure washing the engine.
Nearly all shows require you to raise the hood for judging.

I actually just detailed the engine bay. Trying to get a jump start on things. I cleaned it with simple green and then used CD2 Engine Detailer. That combo made it look better than factory. I got the idea from this forum. One of the many reasons I signed up. It's raining today but I hope to get some before and after pics thursday and friday.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.

 I think it is raining everywhere today...Looks like Troy is gettin Hammered down in Sarasota....Which makes me wonder:idea When Hurricane Season comes do you board up DetailCity? And if you do, and We are in tha "City" at time of board-up how do we get out:wall:wall:wall :surrender:surfing
