Hi Guys,

I purchased my BMW F90 M5 in August 2021 and had Modesto Ceramic Coating on the entire car. On the 5 year anneversary this summer, can I get that original coating removed, then add PPF and add ceramic coating on after?

As long as the coating still beads it’s good.

As far as PPF since you didn’t have it before if you have existing rock chips I’ve noticed the film doesn’t look great going over them. Makes air pockets and they look like white specs. I’d assess if that’s what you can live with or not.

I have 2 vehicles with PPF and they were covered right out of the dealership, that’s the only way I’d do film or after a repaint. The purpose of the film is to protect a perfect surface and keep it that way.

I personally would have them just buff out the car and reapply ceramic when it’s time. Probably around now if it’s not beading well anymore…….

Yes, you can do that.... Are you going to PPF the entire Bimmer??? It is always good to get the paint nice and smooth and shiny before adding PPF.... Be sure the people doing the work on your vehicle are really experienced, and can show you cars they did already...
After the PPF has been applied, and dried, etc., and you want to coat it, please know that the coating will not adhere very long to PPF...
Also, when Washing a car with PPF, you Always want to wash the PPF from the back, Toward the seams in the PPF...
If you wash the PPF Toward the seams, there is the chance to push debris Into the Seams, and it is hard to get it out....
Use product Made for washing PPF; remember, it's plastic.....
Good luck !!! :)
