Tickled Pink? Initial Impressions x2

Initial Impressions: CG Mr. Pink and CG Speed Wipe Anti-Static Quick Detailer

I was feeling particularly pink today so decided to try a couple of new to me products. As these are really initial impressions, I am forgoing the usual format.

First up: CG Mr. Pink

In general, I really like CG shampoos. They are excellent values, smell great, and clean well. My go-to foam soap is CG Honeydew Snow Foam so when I saw a new foam soap from CG, I figured "why not?"

Mr. Pink is another excellent shampoo. Smells great (cotton candy? sweet anyway), foams well, good cleaning and good value.

The one area I think it is better than Honeydew Snow Foam is that it isn't as thick out of the bottle and easier to measure. Otherwise, they are pretty comparable.

After I foamed my car, I rinseless washed it. Normally, I would have chosen CG Hose Free EcoWash here but it wasn't the requisite color. That, and I already had DP Rinseless Wash and Gloss mixed up. (With my new rinseless technique, DP RW&G is back on my recommended list.)

Then I blew out the creases and wheels with my MetroVac Sidekick and I was ready for product number 2: CG Speed Wipe.

I've used quite a number of QD in the past and even a couple of CG's. This one received mixed reviews so never pulled the trigger before. Amazing what a BOGO can do to me. ;)

Well, I'm definitely glad I tried it. It has the same scent as Mr. Pink (I think) but stronger. It goes on easy, spreads far, doesn't streak, amps up the gloss and is very slick - slicker than any QD I remember.

What I'm really interested in is the claimed Anti-Static properties. Dust is my enemy this time of year and hope it works. Will update.

I feel so pretty.

Great review, and beautiful reflection shots on the hood. Look forward hearing about the Anti Static properties - I'm having issues with dust on my Sonata as well.

Great review Mike. I love Speed Wipe and purchased a gallon of it. Very slick, smells great, and leave a nice shine with no streaking issues. Can't wait to try some Mr Pink :)

Thanks everybody.

Thanks for the review!

could you compare the QD to UWW+? To me UWW+ cleans well, but it isn't super slick as a QD.

I once read in a review that there is a tradeoff in making this kind of product: lubricity, cleaning power, gloss and protection. The manufacturer can emphasize one or two to the detriment of the others. I see the market going so far as to creating the subcategories of waterless washes, spray sealants and QDs based on these.

To answer your question, UWW+ maxes out cleaning power and lubricity for its purpose. It also has a little something for added protection. It looks great - for a waterless wash - but not the same as a quality QD. CG SW makes no pretence about protection and has limited cleaning ability by comparison. They are really different products to tackle different problems - IMHO.

When I first saw the title, I thought Boones Farm wine, yeah like yall never tried a little when you first started drinking. At least if you grew up in the 70's you did!

I missed this post. Thanks for the review.

The detail spray does a nice scent. It is very similar to CG Glosswork Glass Cleaner smell-wise. I have been using CG Speedwipe mostly on jambs. I am not much a detail spray user for post-wash paint perk up.

The scent alone may be worth getting a bottle of Mr. Pink.

I will call the foam then rinseless technique the Mike Linane Method since it seems to be a trend to name techniques. I point this out since some think that rinseless washing has some narrow definition but the real goal is to achieve an end result - clean the car safely given the condition.

Mike, I am glad to hear you liked Mr. Pink.

I know you haven't used it enough yet but I would be interested to hear if you like it more than Honeydew.

Hey Troy. Mike did talk about Mr. Pink and Honeydew in the below quote :)

One thing that will definitely have to change for me to switch is Mr. Pink has to come out in comparably priced gallons.

I will definitely use up the 16oz by the end of the year and be in a position to write a proper review.

Great review mike and I've found many of the products offered by Chemical Guys to be top shelf....:bigups
