Different from Angie's List.. consumers pay for membership on Angie's List to see how their friends and neighbors feel about service providers. These customers are pre-sold by the time they call you.



Thumb Tack... provides consumers referrals to service providers and you the service provider pay to get the leads... at least that is my understanding. I used to get request for quotes on Thumb Tack for consumers.. and I would reply with a link to website and note saying we only provide onsite quotes. Since last week I have been receiving leads and when you click..it goes directly to request for credit card payment one time or monthly...
 
Interesting; I figured since they say the service providers are "verified" it meant they were investigating to be sure only reliable people got referrals through the service. I guess what they mean is "we've verified that they are willing to pay us to send them business."
