Three questions in one

alrite finally took some pics of my car and i have 3 diff questions. The pictures are on this site an u need them to do the questions:

PICS 1,2: U can see the dirty factory decal running down the side of the car. i tried using a toothpick to remove the stuff on top but it was embedded in there an it seemed like paint was chipping off when i got underneath the decal so i just stopped. i dont think removal is an option but any1 recomend how to get that crap on top out? its under the decal

PICS 3,4,5: on the bottom of each door, there is this siding that is raised out and not the same consistancy as the rest of the car. basically theres about 8 chips from rocks on each siding and my dad took it to some guy to get them filled in. as u can see the paint doesnt match at all and they look horrible. they can be seen from several feet away and there are many. Anyone know if this can be sanded off and refilled with a closer matching paint if there is one?

PICS 6,7,8: this car was never polished in the 8 yrs my dad had it. always kept outside but paint looks reasonably good. reason i have these is because i think there may be orange peel. i thought orange peel is when the paint has the consistency of an orange...smooth to the touch but rough and dimpled like an orange peel on an angle when u look at it. i did the best to take some pics of it but they didnt focus as well as i liked. the first one of the 3 shows the best example where the flash hit, thats what the whole car looks like. is this orange peel and will polishing do anything about it?

1) I'd remove the tape stripe. Whatever damage that uncovers won't look any worse than what you have now and will IMO look better. I'd get some 3M Adhesive Remover and a heat gun or hair dryer. Work slowly and *do not* scrape the tape off. Let the heat and solvent do the work.

2) Yeah, IMO you can do better. Get some Meg's Unigrit 3000 grit paper. Use this to remove the awful touchup and "feather" the edges of the chips. Apply a touchup paint more carefully. You might talk with a paint shop about how to get something that'll match, or get touchup paint from one of the sources that's been mentioned here. Or check THIS out. Do a search on this one, lots of info on touch up, from simple to involved. Just having the paint *only* in the chip would help a lot.

3) Don't worry about orangepeel and don't expect it to go away with polishing. Even my A8 and S8 have a lot of it.

Advice regarding all three questions: don't expect perfection ;)

alrite thanx for all that. i agree it would look better but it really looks like if i peel it off theres gonna be a huge paint chipped line running across the car. but ill try that paint thing out to. i dont no who did those touchups but they are weak. thanx for all the info

OK, your call and you can actually *see* it whereas I'm just looking at pictures. I figured that the chips wouldn't be as noticeable with the black strip gone. Every "nick" in the stripe just jumps out at me. Sorta like "you got the chips anyhow, what would make them show less?" But yeah, I'd worry about fixing up the bad touch ups first.
