Thoughts on Details vs Detailing in Business name

Thinking about tweaking my business name a bit from Sahr Car Details to Sahr Car Detailing. Someone pointed out that Details just sounds like its about knowledge and information whereas Detailing is a bit more proactive and hands on. It seems like the majority of detailing companies out there though end with the details variation. I can see how it would be beneficial to market yourself as being fully knowledgeable about the field but at the same time you want to make it clear that you are there for the work and not just advice. Your thoughts?

IMO, either way is fine as long as it sounds good and is clear you are a detailer. My business name is Explicit Details Auto Appearance. It wouldn't sound right as Explicit Detailing Auto Appearance. I think yours would be better as Sahr Car Detailing because it has a better ring to it, but I think either way gets across what you do. Just my opinion though.

EDIT: now that I say them both out loud, your current name does sound like what you said, not very clear that you are a detailer. I think it would be a good change to Detailing.

Call me crazy, but I don't like the term "Car Detailing" -- it makes it seem like you don't do trucks/SUVs/etc. I think "Sahr Auto Detailing" not only has a much better ring to it, but it makes clear that you work on all automobiles, not just "cars."

Detailing leads to thinking about a business of large proportions while detailer lends itself to a sole person performing the work.

I get comments all the time about "my fleet" being seen everywhere. LOL. And I have just one truck. It's about perception.

This is just my opinion though.....

The perception comment about having a fleet is kind of funny. I'm a one man show but do have a van and a 99 sedan and have gotten a similar comment before. I do market towards the luxury cars more so than other types of vehicles but I do also detail boats, rv's and other recreational vehicles. My last name Sahr rhymes with car when properly pronounced so thats why I named my business that way. I thought it would be easily memorable over the Sahr Auto option. But it has been on my mind though about what another good name could be that would include all types of vehicles. Its been a bit tough though since the economy isn't that great and just about everybody it seems these days is running a detailing business. All the good ideas I keep coming up with are already taken or are too similar to LLC or Inc companies already established.

Im going to take yalls advice and start marketing myself as Sahr Car Detailing. Maybe later on when I become larger and do have to become an LLC and have multiple employees so I can quickly do the large boats and rv's I'll create a more inclusive business name and just keep the Sahr Car name for targeting the exotic market.

Personally, and this is just me, I don't like my name in my business name. It kind of comes from when I was in the car business. I couldn't stand a dealer putting his name in personal business like "Justin Murphy Chrysler". Again, it's just me.
