This crazy thing called the cyclo

The cyclo is my newest toy and I got a chance to use it briefly today on a 2002 Lincoln LSE. I have to say this is a pretty neat polisher, kind of mystifying watching the dual heads orbit around. This thing seems to have a little bit of a learning curve to it...I didnt have time to really use it, just on a trunk, had to grab the ol reliable Dewalt and PC due to time constraints.

Does anybody have any tips/techniques for this thing? I have to play around with it a little more, but I thought I would ask anyways.

Only worthwhile  advice I can really give is to just keep using it so you get familiar with it. I can't think of any real Cyclo-specific tips right off hand...maybe holding it upside down and/or sideways when working on the sides of the vehicle, and holding its black handle (instead of the "regular handle" portion of the machine) when using it with one hand (so you can put a little pressure directly over the heads). Watch it around tight spots since the pads don't overhang the head of the machine very much (don't want to smack it into the sideview mirrors, etc.). Watch that you don't dry out your product faster than you expect to (it does happen a bit quicker than with a PC, but nothing like the rotary).

I used a Cyclo for years before getting a PC and I really can't think of anything to tell you :nixweiss I showed a non-Autopian newbie how to use it on the Lincoln LS *he* had at the time, and he just went at it and did fine after the briefest possible instruction from me. Just remember that it *is* a bit more aggressive than the PC, but it's not like the rotary where you have to be extra careful. With the experience you already have, you'll get comfortable with it in no time.

Seems like a lot of Cyclos are showing up around here lately :D

My only advice would be use it as much as you can on your own vehicles first .....it definately has its own 'feel'about it. Mine does magnificent things .....don't lean into it right away......It's not like the PC and it has a much smoother feel in operation to me. Good luck and I hope you like it as much as I do.:up

It worked great on the trunk but it was awkward to handle...I was impressed that it didnt bog down like the PC, a very big plus in my book :up

Thanks guys.

Sometimes when using my Cyclo I notice that I don't have the pads laying completely flat. When they're flat you'll feel the bite. Makes a difference.
