There is another foam gun in town, pilgrim.....

I ran across this little video today. This foam gun is the cousin to the Tornador cleaning tool that we have come to know from Bob (Danase). This tool, I see, is offered from detailking.com at present (but it may be availabel at other sites as well).

It is kind of pricey considering other exterior foam type guns. However this tool produces a "dry foam" from what I see in the video, which allows you to use it in the interior as well as the exterior of the vehicle. I may entertain getting one, but I just thought that I would post just to get the word out.

Tornador Foam Gun

Wait a minnit...that Tornador thing is sucking the cleaner out of the carpet?

That is a great special effect...huh.

Actually the cleaning tool is spraying a liquid, which is what is dissolving the foam.

I have that foam gun at home. I got one a long time ago when they where first making them. They kick out a TON of foam. I have not tried it in a long time because my air compressor did not seem to have enough pressure to do an entire car.

There are two Tornador Brand tools. But only one foam gun.

Yeah Bob sells the cleaning tool, which I like a lot.

Is the Foam gun something that you plan on stocking at Danase?

I never really thought about it because I never got a chance to give mine a good testing with the new compressor. I'll try and do that this week and get back to you.

any update ?

Looks good for interiors but that's *NOT* the type of foam I want when washing the paint.

And that guy with the brush was just *murdering* the vehicle he was washing

is it b/c it provides pure foam w/ little to no water? if so i do agree w/ that concern and was hoping a water pre-soak of the car followed by foam would solve that problem, am i wrong? btw: there are two different guns this manufacturer sells, one for interior and one for exterior.

i'm very intrigued by foam guns in general, i admit more for the novelty then function. but i don't own a pressure washer and purchasing one just for foam gun use is cost prohibitive.

but i do own an air compressor so this gun 'gives' me a foam gun solution for only $130.

Not sure if Bob is still banned. I know for sure he's still over on detailingforums.com if you want to sign up over there and ask.

Yet another reason I 'need' an air compressor. lol

i bought mine as a package that included two finish nailers and my gosh was that thing ever helpful on molding. i used it for outside trim work this w/e, great when your hanging from a ladder w/ a 18 foot 1x8 to nail up. the larger finish nailer is good enough to hang the piece and i just have to go back later w/ screws to truely set it.

Actually after using the gun, I would tend to agree with you. There is just not enough lube for me to justify using on the exterior.

Correct about that foam's lack of water content, which to me = a lack of lubrication and no flushing function at all. The water presoak wouldn't help in this.

I dunno if the "dry" foam would work well for a presoak, but my gut feeling is that it wouldn't work as well as more conventional foam. I'd expect the water to help lift and encapsulate the dirt, as well as provide a solvent-action to loosen/emulsify it in the first place.

Note that I use the foamgun differently from some people- for me it's primary function is to provide constant flushing and lubrication, with the ouput/foam/suds directed at the point where the wash media contact the paint.

I can't use a PW in my shop because I'd get overspray on the other veicles, yet a (regular/hose-mounted) foamgun is my primary means of avoiding marring when I wash. For me it's an utterly functional decision, no novelty factor at all. I forget what a foamgun costs (~$50?) but being able to go *long* periods without polishing makes it worth *whatever* it might cost (including the time/effort cost of learning how to use it and then employing it at every wash).
