Well I went and did it. I bought something that is garaunteed to take up all of my free time in the foreseable future. Goodbye school, goodbye loved ones, hello long nights in the garage and a nonstop battle against poor finishes.

Man am I looking forward to it!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, presenting my brand new Makita rotary polishing machine.

Now, who can I sign up first to let me practice on their car? Anyone?

Congrats on the Makita and you're going to love it. Nifty carry/storage kit as well. I notice the washer and dryer are a nice arctic white but I can see swirls and cobwebbing at certain angles.

Why not take the Makita, those LC pads, a little product of choice, and make that arctic white look crystal clear, deep and wet. You'll be the only guy in the neighborhood that has a washer that's wet both inside and out.

You're a lucky guy and you're going to enjoy that Makita. :)

You know it is funny you mentioned that, guess what I did right after I took the pics?

Seriously, who would have thought washer/dryer paint could be THAT hard? It took multiple passes of OHC with an orange pad at 1500 rpm to even begin to take out the scratches.

I've enjoyed your posts in the past and I've concluded you're a genius when it comes to the perfect combo of technique and product to solve a problem.

Heck, I'm bookmarking this thread just in case I need the perfect solution for perfect looking dryers, washers, and home appliances. My quest is over,

You're tops. (I know you're pulling my leg but I'm smiling anyway.) :)

I see you've already taped the washer... did you complete a side by side product comparison yet?? :buffing:

Some people call us weird but hey who's "normal"?? :lol

I just received my Makita also. Still waiting for my backing plate to arrive on Thurs. You should let me practice on your car and you on mine LOL

It was $220 with the tote bag and the Makita wool pads which are most likely not up to snuff. I think I got burned a little bit, but that tote bag is actaully really handy and quite sturdy.

Where'd you order it from? I got it from Amazon.com mainly because Amazon had free shipping and no tax. So it was $179.99 for everything, including the bag and the wool pads.

I got it from Autogeek. I have ordered a lot of stuff from them over the years and I have found that I prefer to pay a little bit more and get their excellant customer service if I ever have a problem. Although it cetainly appears that I got more than just a little gouged this time around. Live and learn.

I chose the Makita over the Hitachi primarily because I have always been happy with other Makita products I used (cordless drill, jig saw, miter saw, just to name a few) and from the research I have done here it seemed like this was the machine that more people had experience with if ever had any questions. And also a post that Anthony Orosca made comparing the Metabo to the Makita brought up some interesting points that convinced me. I don't really mind the extra weight.

Congrat my man!!

Is same one I got few years ago.. Did it come with those 2 killer wool pads:nervous:

It sure did. Are they good for anything? I am having images of the pad that comes with the PC.

I was ready to purchase the Hitachi (the 5 year warranty sold me) but no place seemed to have it in stock, and after the cost of shipping, it comes out to about the same as the Makita from Amazon.

Otherwise I would have gotten the Hitachi. I love Amazon's free and fast shipping and No tax, even for California customers!
