The ThumbGun

03COBRA

I miss my 03 Cobra......
So at work today my Matco retailer came by, so I stopped by the truck to take a look at what he had. And I noticed a cool looking pamphlet for a thing called a thumbgun. So I picked it up and started looking through the pamphlet and thought it was pretty cool. He actually had one of the units on the truck for me to put my hands on. It looks to be really well made, and the motor that dispenses the polish sounds very strong. Sounds like it would move even the thickest polishes.

All in all I was pretty impressed with the product and I'm thinking about buying one. I was just wondering what everyone thought about it and if anyone else had heard of this device or even has one. I was interested in hearing some thoughts before I buy one...

It looks clumsy. Wouldn't you still want to stop and clean off the pad

at some point? In which time, more product can be applied easily.

And wouldn't you want at least 3 of those? and wouldn't that a bit

tedious to remove and reinstall?

I can certainly see a benefit for large areas, planes, RV’s, boats, etc. Not sure if it makes sense for cars.

If you pick one up let us know how you like it.

For horizontal panels I think it would be great, but my tired old arms can barely stand the weight of the rotary let alone a bottle of polish piggy backed on it for vertical panels.

For you buff young 'uns, I can see it saving time, for sure.

Edit: It costs One Hundred and Twenty US Dollars!!! Honestly, i'd pay thirty bucks for it *maybe*, but 120 bucks, I think *not*.

Other than cost the next issue is how well it dispenses product. Does it dispense too much or too little and is it user controllable.
