Since it seems most, if not all, clay is imported :chinese:, I thought it would be interesting to see how prices over there compare to prices here. After some :detective to find a manufacturers web site, I found the following site for Joybond - the manufacturer of Clay Magic. (note: this link is being translated via Google to make it somewhat legible).

If you click on 'Gallery,' then click the first link under the second Red dot, you will see the familiar blue and red clay bars with a price of 9450 yen for a box of 5 x 200 gram bars. With the current exchange rate of about 115 yen to the dollar, that comes to approximately $16.50 for a 200g bar. That's less than half the price of the same 200g bar on claymagic.net ($36.35). :eek:

Anyone know who makes the yellow bars? Would be interesting to compare those too.
 
when it comes to MF and clay along with brushes asia seems to have the best in price. It funny on how PB's products say. " Proudly made in USA " but i just found out that the MF's are made in korea. :ermm:
 
Poorboys proprietary products are made in the USA. I could tell you where, but I would have to kill you. :box:
The MF's, like all MF's are made in foreign countries. Kind of hard to sell US made when they are not made here at all.
 
I just bought a soft99 claybar (150g) locally for US$5.10. It seems a bit hard compare to the one I got from PAC ( maybe it's very old stock, hence the low price and the hardness). I read a few people from another forum had good experience with this claybar compare to the Meg :boxing:
 
Patrick, if you poke around on the Joybond site, you can find Clay Magic branded items. For example, look under "New Item," and the first two items in the table are Clay Magic branded. Also, if you look here, you will see that the US patent used by Auto Wax is acutally assigned to Joybond Co. of Japan.
 
Over at a local import shop in Orange County (super Autobacs), they have it for eight bucks. Cheaper than clay magic, but it doesn't come with lube. I usually clay with suds, so I think I'll try this stuff out. I'm also very curious about some of the other imported detailing products that come from Japan. Though I can only get a rough idea as to what does what, since I can't read the details.
