The Power of Gliptone ProBuff - Please look :)

Had a detail this morning that I knew would be a dirty one, a 1995 Nissan Quest GXE (120k miles) and 4 kids had traveled in it since new. He needed to get it ready to sell. Well, I arrived at 9am and after inspecting the vehicle, I placed it as the dirtiest and most abused vehicle I've ever done. He couldn't have given this thing away this morning.



With that aside, I tackled the interior first with my carpet cleaner (2 scoops of Shout Oxy Power : 2 Gallons Water). I scrubbed it in (twice in some spots), let soak for 10 minutes and extracted with a 5.0hp ShopVac (filter removed). I hit the vinyl and plastic surfaces with Water: Woolite - 6:1, then protected with Armor All. Glass was done with Gliptone Professional Glass Cleaner.

On to the exterior, I knew I had my work cut out for me. It was deeply scratched in many spots, very oxidized and overall in poor condition. I would guesstimate it was washed under 10 times in it's 9 year lifetime. Anyways, I washed with Mother's Gold Wash, dried with my WW MF and inspected the surface. I couldn't decide whether it looked better covered in filth or cleaned to show its defects .





I pulled out the rotary polisher with a polishing pad and my Gliptone ProBuff. I used it with overlapping passes at 1500 rpm to remove what I could (he was only paying me to make it look presentable to sell, so no clay or heavy polishing). Needless to say, I was very impressed with Gliptone ProBuff today. It revamped my thoughts on why I have it in my arsenal. It cleaned the oxidation without a sweat and with a little more pressure, took out scratches, scuffs, and water spots.

After I finished that, I topped it with NXT Tech Wax via Rotary and Polishing Pad @ 1000 rpm and buffed off with a Pakshak Super Fine MF. I hit the tires with Armor All as well as the wheel wells.



When I stepped back to look, I knew it was much more presentable to a potential buyer. He was thrilled with the results, but in the end I think he realized what a cared for vehicle could look like. I told him about the reason some carpet stains didn't come out because it was never cared for and the fibers got soo matted down. Also, how the brake dust etched itself into the wheels leaving it to never come off. Not to mention some pieces that were past fixing due to sun and weather damage. All in all, I was happy on the transformation I made.

However, you mentioned Pro Buff was like VM in another post. With the results on a surface like that :scared without proper prep (since it's for sale) it seems a little more aggressive than VM. No?



I have seen Gliptone all over Jersey, but never bothered with it except the Wash Glo shampoo.



I'll have to take another look.

I think that using ProBuff via rotary has really increased it's cleaning power, but it has the same tendencies as VM. Light cleaning action with some protection and it's $25 per gallon so hopefully that may raise a few eyebrows.



Definately consider it next time around.
