The Jobs You Have Held??

Beemerboy

Just One More Coat
Last night while talking with my father in law, I was talking about a job that I held many years back. Then I got to thinking, I've had quite a few jobs over the years.:D

So I wanted to open this up to those that would like to post some or one of the interesting jobs that you have held or are still involved in.

Two that stand out that most would have no idea about me.

My major in college was music, I played and earned a small living while in college playing trumpet in big & Jazz bands, currently I'm playing with the local community band

While in the food industry in sales, I worked part time as a chef in the evenings..I also hired out to private parties for in house gourmet meals....its the reason why I am so fat!

Of course an auto detailer, full and part time

Here's my list:

Swim lesson instructor--It was fun but the pay was horrible.

Salesman at Ace Hardware--Tought me to never work for family ever again.

Mexican Resturant--I did it all, but spent most of my time as a cook. That was a fun job.

Aircraft Mechanic in the USAF--Been doing it for over 7 years now and am still enjoying it. I guess that's a good thing considering I have about 12.5 years left before I can retire.

Salesman at Sears--Got fired for continually calling my manager an idiot. It was always justified

Server at Chilis--It's my second job now and I'm not sure whether I like it or not. I hate going there, but I usually have a good time while I'm there.

I haven't had any really wierd jobs, but I seem to always find a way to make the job more fun or interesting.

I really didn't have any exciting jobs. The shortest one I had was for 2 hours before I quit. In college we used to go to this pizza place to eat all the time. There was a girl I liked that worked there so I applied for a job so I could get to know her better. My first day of work I found out I was hired to replace her. At our first break I left and didn't come back. I would never do anything like that now, can't believe I did back then. Oh well, young and foolish I guess.

The complete list...

KMart - Stocker
Pizza place - Slacker
Target - Electronics department
UPS - Pre sort loading
Log Home Builder - Designer
Architectural firm - Designer
Commercial Construction Company - Designer
Self Employed - Designer
Architectural firm - Designer

I'm 31 now... I guess that's a lot of jobs or that amount of time.

:rofl:rofl:rofl
JUst make sure you don't call Chilis manager an idiot!

Shortest job for me was half a day at a tin can factory....started in the AM was on some machine that punched out lids for the cans...I was paranoid about getting my fingers in the punch part, no safety guards...left for lunch and never went back

Let's see.....

High school retailer job
Car audio/video/security installation
machine operator at a plant that produced vehicle carpets and mats
Corrections officer for three years
Mainframe computer programmer
and finally accountant/auditor

On the side, I am a purveyor of fine forum avatars. Just ask Beemer. :D

Ok against my better judgment I will submit my list.

Donzi - Design and Development Manager (stolen away by NASA)
NASA - Technical Engineer (it wasn't my fault but they fired me anyway)
CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit) - Field Agent

:thought:

OK done dreaming. Not gonna give my resume but here is a funny story

After being the best I could be in the fast food industry I stepped up to pizza delivery and lasted 3 days. It was in the bad part of town and the last delivery I remember was a junky little house with a grubby little kid coming to the door with a jar full of change and his Rotweiller that was intent on making me crap my pants. I just remember taking whatever change he gave me and getting the heck out of there.

Believe it or not that wasn't the shortest job I ever had. I was a bar back for half a night. It was a miserable job. Started at 6pm and was expected to stay until 4am. Well I ducked out of there about 11 because it was so chaotic.

After that I parked cars for 7 years before entering the wonderful world of detailing and the rest is history.

Here are mine, you can see I slowly went up the 'ladder of prestige'...lol :)

-Working construction for my uncle's business
-Door to door canvasser for windows/siding
-'Bar cart' driver for a country club
-Pharmacy technician for a hospital
-Mental health counselor in the psychiatric unit for the same hospital as above

Right now I'm still doing the counseling but only part time since I'm going back to school for teaching, which hopefully I'll be doing next year.

So you have seen dr. peppers in person huh ;)

No, not Dr. Peppers. :) I have seen quite a few inmates in day though. Oddly enough, there's a sense of pride for people who have been convicted to be referred to as convicts. I guess it makes them feel more important. No famous people really, only "famous" in the sense that they were famous in AL from being on the news or something. I do have plenty of interesting stories.....

In circa 1985 I once was a Sparkle Maid. Best thing about the job was the women I worked with. The manager of the business hired nothing but good looking women. Makes me wonder how I got the job. LOL!!

Another job was as a fish box tender for a fishwheel on the Yukon River. I had to pick up the fish as they came in and then gut and hang them on a fish drying rack made of willows.

The most fun and the most unusual was working for Crowley Marine as a rolligon operator that delivered freight to village's in an around the Arctic Wildlife Refuge in Northern Alaska. These vehicles only stopped if they turned over. Weather never stopped them. No matter storm or cold. It was my first time trusting a GPS to find your way to the village through white out conditions. There were no roads or roads signs to help find one's way.

Makes driving on the freeway look like a piece of cake

Let's see..

Job 1) Olive Garden for 3 years. Started as a busser...then worked as a dishwasher/maintenance. They wanted me to be a server but I was (and still am) a shy person so being a waiter wasn't really my thing.

Job 2) Then worked part-time at a tool design engineering company for a year or 2 while I went to a 2-year tech school. Aced the course and got into technical illustration which I fell in love with and that lead me to job #3...

Job 3) Garrett Graphics, a small family-owned graphic design business where I learned 'hands-on' the ins-and-outs of graphic design. Things slowed down there after 8 years which leads me to #4...

Job 4) Emerson, in the Emerson Tool Company division as a Sr. Graphic Designer where I still currently am today...almost 10 years here!!

I haven't really job-hopped much...I like stability and like to get in somewhere where I can learn my job and do it to the best of my ability. I take a lot of pride in my design work, I'm very picky and I want to do it and do it well.

And on top of these 4 jobs...I run my own automotive related graphic design business (TMoore Graphics) which I've been doing for 15 or 16 years now. It's my one 'true passion' in my life...it allows me to release my creative freedom and I really enjoy what I do!!

That's pretty much it for me.

Funnything is I have been lost in California City's but have never been lost in Alaska. Of course most of my time was spent in the interior of Alaska where there is only two directions....UP river and Down river.
