The Ferrari home stereo...

See that little horse in the middle? That's what you are paying for IMHO.

Well maybe not. Meridian is a high end designer. They use really expensive proprietary parts and they invented the DVD MLP spec. Their CD players are in the $4K to $20K range.

I wouldn't balk at it too badly. Silver is correct in saying that Meridian is VERY high end. Case in point, I checked out a Meridian home theater system that was valued at $200,000+ with $104,000 for the main speakers ALONE.

The sound quality was almost as good as going to a good theatre.

I'm sorry, I'm too much of a pragmatist. Even if I won the Megaball, I wouldn't spend $200K for a home theater or $3K for a countertop CD player. I'd save the $200K for a bigger garage or something...

I was having a similar debate on another forum with someone that is along these same lines. I truly believe that what you sometimes pay for in the whole "you get what you pay for" cliche is advertising hype, brand name, and bragging rights. Nothing more.

I'd spend the $200K and get a real Ferrari stereo.. in red, of course!

For $200K, I'd kinda expect better than a good theater, not almost as good. lol.

It would have been better if I didn't find a position in the remote controlled leather recliners that was extremely comfortable. :chuckle:

However, I am inclined to agree that you don't need to spend as much to get good sound out of a home theater system.

called Fpod..:grinno:

Haha! That's funny to think of :D

Regarding Meridian, yes they are high-end (wouldn't necessarily say very high-end, 200k on a home audio system, as high as that sounds, isn't as high as it goes...), vouching for their monitor speakers, they are beautiful in dynamics; just remember, even though many people here may not be able to justify a 200k sound system, there are those who are audiophiles who will gladly pay that for a system but wonder why the heck someone would spend 200k on a car. It's just their hobby and preferences.

:werd: I have read about speaker systems that cost $1,000,000+
