The dreaded wheel wells.... any tricks to make them look better?

Hi,

It seems that after spending hours making the car look good, the wheel wells always stand out...

Are there any tricks to making the wheel wells on our cars look better?

Thanks as always!

Not sure how but I always seem to find greasy stuff in the wheelwells...

A good degreaser, sprayed and allowed to soak, then sprayed again, scrubbed with a long handle brush (Jack the car up if necessary), then rinse with a pressure washer.

Then dress with your cheapest plastic/rubber dressing like ArmorAll or similar... Looks good every time!

after they dry from your wash and scrub use mineral spirits/body solvent to get rid of the tar deposits. Let it sit for 10 mins then spray again and wipe off. This will make everything flat in there again and it will look 10x better.

I use Megs APC 4:1 ratio and a pressure hose.

During the summer time I use CG Bare Bones. It lasts a long time and it looks great!!

During the winter I spray WD-40 and barely anything sticks to the wheel wells.

Clean them really well with a Degreaser or APC then get ya some Meguiar's Hyperdressing and dilute it 4:1....spray and walk away...best looking system i have found yet.

Uhm, clean and dress them?

Clean with an APC and long handled brush (car wash soap does fine if they aren't too dirty) when you are cleaning the wheels and tires. Dress them after the car is dry. Adds maybe 5-7 minutes to the wash process, tops. I wouldn't even consider washing my car and not doing the wheel wells.

Yep, more of the same recommendation here...

Clean with APC and a FENDER BRUSH the dress with UNDERCARRIAGE SPRAY.

this tahoe had 20k on the odo when I did it, the wheel wells had never seen a cleaning or been dressed... so even in the worst case scenario you can have inner fenders that look like new :)

I always clean my wheels and tires first and then use what's left in the bucket and a brush to get the debris and dirt off. After the whole car is washed, about the same time I apply dressing to the tires, I spray some Armor All Tire Foam which seems to work pretty well. I do this with every wash because clean wheels and tires mean nothing when the wheels are filthy.

Always looking for new ideas on how to approach this though....keep 'em coming.

I just use regular car wash and a variety of brushes, it usually comes out pretty clean. I haven't run into any wells that were out of control for a heavy APC.

On a 4 point lift, I remove wheels and remove the wells to really clean them on some cars that can easly be removed. Otherwise, lots of APC+ or other degreasing chemicals. Once dry, treat with a good plastic protectant that has NO silicone oils unless you want to repeat this soon.

Bingo! My exact process.

I've been using CD-2 since most of the wheel wells I get are plastic. Once super clean I use CD2 it really makes the next clean ups so easy. Seems to lay down a coating on the plastic.

Cheers,

I've been doing an APC or Amazing Roll Off (it's a APC anyways), dwell, brush, then brush again with soap. Spray clean, and then once they are dry I've been dressing with either a cheap tire dressing orAdams Undercarriage spray.

I'll have to remember the CD-2 trick. That stuff looked great on my engine when I did it yesterday.
