Thank you Autopia

I just wanted to thank Autopia the community for some wonderful years. I have learned a lot since I joined here, and have had some great discussions with some great folks. And I want to thank David for creating such a place where enthusiasts can come together and share so easily.

There have been and are a lot of great folks here, and a lot of great information, and even some great friendships. I have very much enjoyed it, though I'm but a very small part of it.

However, I feel as though I have overstayed my welcome here. There are a few things I don't particularly agree with, and it seems there is no longer any room for people like this. This has been illustrated by the banning of some folks who did nothing other than voice an opinion that was in contrast to the opinion of the board, including at least one person in the last two days over the latest controversy. So I will show myself the door before it is shown to me, and I'll go out glad for the time I did get to spend here.

I certainly won't say I won't return (unless I suppose this gets me banned. :( ). But for now, it appears it isn't for me. This really is a wonderful place for the detailing enthusiast, and I thank everyone who has contributed to making it so. :wavey

Sorry to see you go :( Hope you reconsider.

Ever get that from Mitch Roesen (?sp?)?

(You can PM me about this if you prefer)

I'd like to correct one thing:

I told Aurora40 I was banned. Without getting into why I thought that, I'll say that David has restored my posting privileges and made it clear to me that I am as welcome here as I ever was.

If I stop visiting it will be my choice, not his. If you read my posts recently, you will know that David and I have some (very strong) differences of opinion, and also that most members agree with him, not me. The important point to remember is that I have no stake in the future of Autopia, and he has a very large one. He should do what works for him, not what works for me. Although we have never met, I like David, and I fervently want him to be successful.

Autopia has been and will continue to be a great place. I'm thankful to David and to everyone who has helped me over the years, and here's to making sure that people will continue to help others here for many years to come!

Tom

Bob I will be frank - Don't Go!!!!

Tom please continue to post. Though I was on the opposite view of your statements, I do believe you have the right to express your opinion and I truly hope that thread did not, even for a moment, lead to you being banned. If so Autopia is definitely headed in the wrong direction. :(

I hope both of you will continue to post. I've enjoyed Bob and Tom's comments over the past 1.5 years I've been around.

Please stay.

Again, I have not been banned. I thought I was, but I have not been. I told Aurora40 I was, David and I exchanged some emails, and he restored me. I'd prefer to leave it at that.

David and Autopia have both been very good to me. I very much believe that we can disagree very strongly yet still like each other and respect each other. Holding different points of view is no reason to change that.

Like I said, I feel very strongly about some things, and I may gotta do what I gotta do; but that will come from inside me, not from Autopia, and not from animosity but from principle. I spend too much time on the internet anyhow; it's a drug.

Tom

I must have missed the entire ordeal. :nixweiss

Anyway, Bob- if you do find it necessary to leave, don't forget to keep checking the Hot Tub for updates on our VA meet.

I hope you stay on, Bob. I really enjoyed meeting you when we were out in California and you are one of my favorite members here. :)

It would be a shame to see you and Tom leave. You are both members whose opinions I hold with the utmost regard. Even if we had disageements neither of you ever got personal or hostile but rather put forth logical and well thought out arguements.

I truly hope you stay. :up

Sorry to see you go. I sincerely do hope you change your mind, but you must do as you see fit. You shall be missed
