Test drove the PC on the L

I got to try out my PC and really detail my truck this week to get it ready for a car show.

7yrs old paint. It is a daily driver, rain or shine. The paint had a lot of micro marring and paint chips all around the truck especially doors, hood, and F/R bumper. This was my first time using a PC, menzerna, and touch-up paint. I didn't take a lot of pics but I'll post what I have.

First two days were spent applying touch-up paint.

Third day I spent 8hrs of fun detailing and getting used to the PC. :buffing:

For interior, Woolite 1:6 mix, Z9, and Natural Shine.

For engine, Simple Green MAX and Natural Shine.

For exterior, clayed with Z18, then....

... IP on yellow LC pad @ 6 (slow)

... FPII on white pad @ 4-5-6

... AIO on grey pad @ 4-4-6

... KSG with damp MG and EO W&S QD

Z12 on glass.

Then wheels/fender wells/tires, Simple Green and AIO/Son of a Gun/Z16. And 2nd coat of KSG 24hrs later.

Before - Swirls 1 :nervous2:

Before - Paint Chip

After - Interior

After - Finished Product

A fellow Autopian who is a L owner? That's great!! Your truck came out really good. How do you keep the inside of your exhaust tips so clean?? I clean mine every week but they still get really black.....maybe it's the pig rich stock tune?

Thanks guys. I think I'm sold on menzerna products. I'm looking into a foam gun now to help keep the swirls off.

Whistler - It may be a rich tune. Are you stock? Might want to look for a puff of black smoke when you do a cold start. If its rich, a good dyno tune will fix it.

I cleaned the insides by spraying it with Simple Green MAX at full concentration and agitating it with a soft toothbrush. I used the PC to remove minor scratches on the outside and applied mags polish to both the outside and inside with my fingers. I may have also applied a little AIO at the last minute.

Yeah, I'm still stock. I know the stock tunes are notoriously rich. A custom tune will have to wait until my warranty is up and I throw on a Kenne Bell. Until then I guess I'll try some full strength simple green and elbow grease.
