Tef-Guard ok for my paint?

I recently bought a previously owned car. The wheels are pretty clean, but not perfect. There are some visible traces of dirt and grime (that wash soap did not/and will not remove). Will EFHI remove this? What type of product should I be looking to use. The wheels are BMW M3 LTW polished wheels. Thanks for any input :)
 
you might need to scrub them a bit. Rinse completely, and apply your favorite wax to them (polymer products will last longer). Now maintain with car wash and a sponge every time you wash the car.........
 
Ronin, you may want to try a little metal polish. Sometimes that can help...just go easy with it to be certain you are not doing any damage!
 
See if you can find some ArmorAll multi-purpose cleaner in the spray bottle. You always want to test it on a small spot first, but I've salvaged some amazingly cruddy wheels with it, plus it beats anything else I've ever tried for general cleaning of vinyl, aluminiun, etc.
 
Hi all,

I just purchased a black Range Rover, and I want to get a good wax job on it so that can withstand an occasional pressure wash, etc. The car is two years used.

Anyway, I found a high end place (I know I should do it myself) that will do this:

PRO-SHINE TEF-GUARD
The finest wax job money can buy:
One coat of cleaning wax, a second coat of High Gloss Wax and a special coat of Tef-Guard (a Registered Dupont Product). No rewaxing or reapplication necessary for at least 3 years "Guaranteed".


-- Does anyone have any thoughts on that? I just want to make sure I do not hurt my paint. Is that Tef-Guard a good idea?

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
 
A quick search on google and I can't find any real info on this product. I even tried it with Dupont and nothing at all.

If its one of those teflon based products, its a scam. Teflon requires something crazy like 700f to bond to any surface.

Sounds like a standard detail shop with little actual professional knowledge. The "Extra charge for high-speed buffing" is a dead giveaway. I'd suggest finding someone from here that won't hack up your Range Rover.

Alright. Anyone know a good shop in the northern Virginia/DC area? I basically just want a good wax once or twice a year to protect my paint, especially if I occasionally want to take it through a pressure (no touch) car wash (rather than hand washing every time). Thanks.
 
I'm always sceptical of business's that mentions a portion of there proceeds are donated to charity. IMO you should save that info for yourself :2 cents:

there dealer owned. theres a video of them on youtube of tyson drying a bentley with a bath towel....and windex with newspaper. :banghead: i would stay away from him

Looked at theie website; its done nicely.

Kind of hard to determine exactly what it would have cost you - they are kind of vague in how they structure their pricing.

I also believe that anyone who says "highspeed buffing extra", is not in tune with how most other Detailer Shops price their services.

It is almost a given, that there WILL be high speed buffing, random orbital buffing - maybe even both those types of buffing, especially with a black SUV type vehicle, if you want the paint corrected to the point of removing all the swirls and scratches that are probably there - no matter how careful you are with washing.

The guys who frequent this website that are in your area are all established professionals who will do great work the first time, and leave you very pleased with the outcome.

If you have time to dink arouind this website, you will see lots of work from some of the best Detailers out there from all over the nation, especially from the East/Midwest areas..

Tuscarora Dave looks to be too far away. Can't find info on the Asphalt man, but just e-mailed Brian Brice to find out where he is. I should take a picture of the few scratches on my hood and post them here to see what you guys thinks (whether it can be fixed). I'll do that later today.

Hey guys - Here is the damage I was referring to. Do you guys think this can be buffed out? Or what do you suggest.

Notice in the first picture how those little spots are almost like bubbled paint? I have no idea what happened (I bought this used). It is almost like bird crap or some sort of acid was left on the paint for too long?

In the second picture (ignore the white box - that is a reflection of the light above), you will also see one of those marks. However, notice the streaks on the car?

^^I agree^^ you can get in touch with Dana (Asphalt Rocket) over at live2detail (notice I didn't use a direct link) ;) His work is the best and I'm sure he can point you in the right direction.
