Teenage Daughter + Scotchbrite+02 Black Camry= Disaster

My buddy calls me up today and leaves this msg on my machine, he says "Hey Pat, Ive kind of got an emergency, can ya call me up?" I fig'd it was work related, probably could wait till monday, but ill give him a shout...."Hey John, whats up?" "My daughter decided to wash the Camry today with the kitchen sponge, the rough side!" I said Oh No !! John, what colors your Camry? "Black".....I said Oh Sh**!"

He wanted a price for some repairs, I said no way, not until i see it John. So I went over, it wasnt as bad as I thought, several isolated areas, hood, and rear deck....You always try to figure out your product and routine beforehand with jobs like these, and like many, (I think) I keep small samples in my truck, in a bag, for such emergencies. I come to discover I didnt have any PB SSR3, or even SSR2. So I broke out the DACP, did about a 1x1 area by hand (stuff is a ***** to work with i tell ya, I hate it) rubbed it in for about 45 seconds, back and forth. Went to wipe it away and naturally it was terrible removing. Broke out the VM to loosen it up, a trick i learned on a White super cab p/u one day, and wiped it over the area, wiped it clean in a instant. Threw some MW on there for protection for a couple days until i can get back over there and hit it with the PC. Anyway, it came out pretty good, John even called his wife out to take a look see, it was as if i had performed magic or something, I mean I wasnt impressed, but nonetheless, thats not what matters anyway.....What I would like from you folks is your opinion on product selection for this particular job, take a look at the pics and tell me what ya think.....

got a rotary? :D

I would try the 1z UPP because I have it on hand-TONS easier than DACP. I would finish with PP and then some VM, or menzerna glaze. Why? because thats what is in my trunk.

Or for fast results Hi-temps lite-cut with a rotary.

Scott, i have the following...

dacp

#20

3m smr

mw. vm

colorx

ssr1, 2, 3 and all PB stuff....(the names escape me, i pretty much just use the SSR's....

BF twins

platinum twins

WG twins

Klasse twins

3m IHG

3m PI

S100

Wizards polish cut

dang, i cant remember everything !!

I was thinking DACP or SSR3, then clean with ColorX, then seal with WG/BF or Plat.....Ill be using a PC also.......

I would use the PB's combo for the scratch(s) removal and then go with what ever you want to seal/top. I happen to love Plat. UPP on black cars. so that is what I would use. If I remember correctly the SSR2 is right about the same strength as DACP so I would start with that and see how it goes, step up to SSR3 if need be. I haven't tried the colorX any good in your opinion?

Could be worse. I read a post on another forum entitled "Teenage Daughter + Mustang=...."

Apparently like a 16yr old girl got a new mustang and of course she was trying to do a brake stand in a residential neighborhood  , she lost control and drove right into a tree full throttle. Stang totalled, girl OK.

I'll try to find the link.
