Here we go again....tape is used by many here. I don't use it! OK here comes the debate. If you know how to polish you dont need tape. Just my opinion. Let those opinions FLY like a Robbin! I dont use any tape! I did a BLACK S-500 yesterday! NO TAPE! Now or in the last 40 years! Wipe out the jambs when your done.

The detailer @ BMW uses tape. It does seem comical, putting tape where I want to polish. This guy busts his ***. They still call me for BLACK though, thats good.

Don't use tape? What about when you're polishing pillars and polish gets on a flat black trim and stains it? What about burning the edges of paint?

Dont mean to jack the thread, but I have a clear-bra question, Im about to put WG sealer and Collinide 845 on my truck, should I wax on-top of the clear bra or do I tape it off and only wax and apply sealant to the parts of vehicle that doesn't have clear-bra

There are many reasons for taping off paint. In the OP's question, it could be because he is not sure whether or not buffing on the edge of the clear bra will cause it to start peeling. Keeping in mind that taping is not necessarily meant to keep polish out of jambs. Tape is placed on vehicle parts of panels where the paint may be rediculously thin, such as edges, corners, etc. Also, as mentioned, around rubber trim, etc.
