Taking the PC plunge! Need some tips

After a bunch of reading...I'm gonna order the PC.(I may order a "How to use a PC" DVD also) Now comes the hard part. What basics do I need for my 06 Black Mustang?
The paint is in great shape with minor scratches and minor cobwebbing in spots.
I just need a list of basics to get started. I need pads to polish the scratches/cobwebbing and pads to apply waxes etc(i don't want to apply by hand anymore).
As far as polish goes...I'm at a loss as to what I really need. Meg#80? Menzerna? Poorboys?
I'd like to keep it as simple/inexpensive as possible to start. I'd like to order it all from one site if possible.

Here's a (bad) pic of some of the scratches.

i'm in almost the same situation as nathansdad04. just got a 06 accord black 6spd. it has minor scratches, swirl marks, etc. will be getting a PC (7424 i'm assuming?) soon. have some detailing experience, but not w/ the PC.

wondering where is the best place to buy all the pads/polish i need at once. i too want to keep it simple and inexpensive as possible. any help would be appreciated. thanks!

All I can say is that when I use my pc for the 1st time(very soon I hope) I'll be using Poorboy's products. I got my pads from Edge.

Poorboy’s Porter Cable 7424 Polish & wax Kit

Buy that kit and that'll make you good to go. From the picture above, SSR1 would be a good polish to use. Use the white pad to apply the SSR1 with the PC and remove with a MF towel. You then can go to apply a wax or sealant.

Poorbooy's Products work great, easy to use and are fairly inexpensive. Autogeek also has other pad kits which you can look into as well.

I'll keep that pkg in mind. I was hoping for something a little less expensive, but I may end up getting it if I can't find anything else cheaper.
Are there discount codes for that pkg or others?

I got my PC not to long ago. Went with an edge pad kit...came with all the pads, but I've never used the most aggressive one. They are pretty nice because they can just be flipped over and you have a new pad.

I started off with the Klasse AIO, but just recently bought the Optimum Compound and Optimum Polish. I have no experience with any other compounds or polishes, but the price for the Optimum was pretty darn good, and it seems like they have almost infinite work time. Did a friends Honda the other day with them, and had GREAT results for the first time out with abrasive polishes. No matter what I did, it seemed like I just could not bugger the finish up, and the swirls came out with two passes of the compound with the yellow edge pad. Followed up with the blue pad and polish, then just for fun, followed with AIO and the white pad. Before the detail, you could hardly tell the paint was mettalic...afterwards the flake popped like crazy.

Hi guys I just bought my PC this summer. Its a sweet set up not as fast as a rotary, but its easy and fool proof.I bought the Lake Country pads and Poorboy's(ssr1,2 and 3, Pro Polish, Polish w/carnauba,EX&Natty's). You can't go wrong with a PC and after you get good with the PC its time to buy a rotary:D . As far as to where to buy you stuff from, Autogeek,SMP or Poorboy's are all good places to buy from.
