2013 Ford Fusion Titanium

Since it's nasty outside this time of year in Indianapolis (what a dumb time for me to take ownership of my first new car, eh?), my first "detail" was:
- 2BM wash, Meguiars Gold Class, grit guard, MF mitt
- dry with viking mf waffle weave (leaves a bit of moisture)
- QD with meguiars QD and leftover moisture
- Zaino Z-CS (to get me through until a hopefully warmer March)
Second wash (this weekend) was steps 1-3 above, then two applications of Surf City Speed Demon to improve shine. Boy, it did, but it also presented me with something that had not been there, or been visible, before:
Swirls on the decklid spoiler. Nowhere else on the car, not a single fine mark or swirl anywhere, but definitely visible all over the spoiler. The only circular motions I've made have been during the wash part, and I've kept my mitt extremely clean.
Final note: The car arrived in a heavy rain and I picked it up in the same heavy rain. I'm pretty sure the dealer did not do anything but remove the protective white transport plastic. I even got there before they applied the dealer stickers and license plate, thankfully.
Questions:
1. Is it possible the swirls were there and I just made them more visible with the Speed Demon product?
2. Is it because the spoiler is a different material? (I don't even know if it is)
3. Did I do something wrong with the wash approach (or any of the approaches, for that matter)?
4. Any input to my methodology that could help, or that you see is glaringly wrong?
