Swirl Removers and Pads

(sorry for the cross-post, but I think the Detail Product Discussion was the wrong home for this)

I made the horrible mistake of drying my brand new dark blue Lexus IS350 a few times with an old terry cloth towel and now I'm paying the price of countless hours trying to remove the swirl marks with my PC 7424. My first few hours were spent using the Sonus SFX-2 with the SFX-2 pad (white pad) followed by the Sonus SFX-3 polish and a blue pad. I've read lots of posts on this board to help me. Should I change to or add a step with a different polish and/or pad? The Sonus SFX-1? Poorboy SSR 2.5 (which I couldn't find at www.autopia-carcare.com; am I searching wrong?)? Four Star Ultimate Swirl Mark Remover? Orange pad instead of the SFX-2 pad? I don't think it should take 2-3 hours to remove swirls just on my hood.

P.S. After several hours I was able to get rid of the swirls on my hood and trunk. Then my Lexus dealer washed my car and put swirls back in even though they said they use chamoises. Arrrrgh!!

How I keep from getting swirl marks on my LS when I take it in for service to the Lexus dealer:

Me: "Brian, you remember to tell them not to wash the car, right?"

Brian: "yes sir, no wash - your car hardly ever would need it anyway!"

Me: "why don't we write it on the service ticket just in case..."

Brian: writes "DO NOT WASH" in large red letters on the ticket... :D

Re: getting them out, I've found at least an orange pad and something around the aggressiveness of SSR 2.25, SFX-2, DACP, etc is necessary.

Poorboy's products can be found at alot of places, along with many other polishes.... here are a couple places to look into... danase.com, poorboysworld.com, autogeek.net, topoftheline.com, properautocare.com to name a few. So, if the SFX line doesnt do the trick with the orange pad, experiment with some other products. Also, whats your speed on your PC? For swirl removal, speed 6 is a necessity with many products.

Yes, I definitely will be telling Lexus not to wash my car!! I do up the PC to speed 6, apply firm pressure, and move at about 1 inch/sec. I'll step up to a more abrasive polish and the orange pad before switching over to the SFX-2. I'm not sure how the Four Star Ultimate Swirl Mark Remover compares with the Poorboy SSR 2.5 or Sonus SFX-1.
