Swirl removal, oxidation removal and other pics!

This is a BMW 545 that has moderate buffer swirls purchased from Moritz BMW. I tried to keep the same amount of sunlight for all the pics, but it was partly cloudy, so I was getting maybe 20-30 seconds of sunlight then clouds again.



This is what I started with.

Here is a 1995 Lexus LS 400 that I have been taking care of since it was about 3 months old (their old detailer just stopped showing up...his loss, my gain!).

This is a silly question, but when you polish with DACP by hand, are you using back and forth motion or circular or both? Just curious because I usually us my PC for all polishing but sometimes I see a small spot that needs attention and it is easier to do it by hand instead of pulling out the PC, pads, etc.



Again Scott, the way you detail, you even make the newer Bimmers look good! :D

Now for the oxidation shots. This detail was a present for the head cashier at an antique mall. Nice boss, eh? Anyway, it is a 1989 Ford Taurus with a single stage chalk...oops, I mean white paint job. It was severely oxidized, but unfortunately, the sun didn't come out until I had finished the car, so the cloudy skies don't show how truly bad it was.

After Clearkote's Blue Moose (an aggressive compound still not yet released) x 2 on all horizontal surfaces and x 1 on vertical.

This is a whole car after shot. I didn't take a before shot because of the clouds....if it had stayed cloudy, the improvement would have been minimized and since the sun came out, the difference in lighting would have made before and after shots not comparible.

When the lady who owned the car saw it, she looked like she was ready to cry! She just kept running her hands over the paint and marveling out how slick and shiny it was. She also said it was going straight home into her garage and I made sure to let her know that it should be polished and waxed every 3 months without fail so it continues to look like that!

I start off using a circular motion, then back and forth, then back to circular as the product begins to clear.

Actually, I like the new 5 series more than the new 7s....but those 740s like yours are the best looking sports sedans around!
 
Awesome work as always Scott!!!



I noticed you have been using this California Clear Coat Glaze quite often lately. Any difference between it and Vanilla Moose that you can tell?
 
COBRyan-CCC has a somewhat wetter look and VM has a more hard reflective look (S100 like). Subtle difference though.
 
BTW, I've uploaded some of the pics into my autopia gallery so if photohost is still down, you can see some of the pics anyway.
