hey guys,

My mom bought this Lexus used about a month ago. Looked clean when I walked outside but as I got closer all I could see were holograms galore !!!

So much for the Lexus dealer hiring quality "detailers"

Anyways, I told her not to worry, that I have a couple tricks up my sleeve.

One of my ideas was to use SIP on a yellow pad, but half way through the car the PC had worked its way through the blue foam backing ( older style LC yellow pad ) so I had to continue with an LC orange cutting pad.... this did not produce as good of results but good enough for now, i would say swirls are 85-90 % gone and the holograms are 100% taken care of...........so here goes

Process:

Wash - Meg's GC

Clay - Meg's blue clay

Polish - Menzerna SIP on a yellow LC cutting pad via PCx speeds 6

Trunk and right side of the car was polished with SIP and an orange LC pad

Wax - Carnauba Moose Wax on a blue LC pad via PCx speed 2.5 ( 3 just seemed too fast )

Wheels and tires were removed ( I rotated them in an X pattern ) and cleaned.

Chemical Guys Diablo wheel gel was used.

Tires Dressed with Meg's Hyper dressing diluted 3:1

Befores

Looks clean right ?

Here are the afters, you can see on the truck where swirls are still present..... wish my yellow pad has made it all the way, but this wont be the last time I polish the car, so it's damn good for now.

i mean i'm sure you can post in the before and afters in the pro section--but out of respect i chose not to (the last thing i need it is to tick off the sages so that they're less motivated to help in when i'm in a jam lol)

the pro section says to keep it to the pro's

so its ok,

if there's over 200 views then people are checking it out...... i used to get more feedback years ago but i guess there's just "lurkers"

Nice work, man. The car looks black in the first few pics, but you really brought out the color. Wheels look great, too! Owner must be thoroughly satisfied.

We looked at some CPO Lexuses and they all had horrible buffer trail/holograms like that, too. I wonder if it's standard procedure for Lexus to ask for as many holograms as possible. I know some people think holograms = good detailing.

Either way, I'm sure your mom was quite pleased with the results. Good job.

I have yet to see a CPO Lexus for under $25K (not that I look Lexus much), but for that kind of money, the only hologram I'd want to see should be on my driver's license! Weak sauce FTL!

thanks for the replies gents....

my mom looked @ quite a few of them ranging from 24,995 - 29,995

too many vehicles no matter the make come from the dealer with holograms....just glad this one was able to be fixed !!
