So, I'm finally venturing out beyond my trusty Meg's #9, VM, and S100. Soon, AIO, SG, and ColorX will be joining the tub of detailing fun
. I've been reading past posts about all three (very informative) and have these conclusions:
- AIO is wipe on/wipe off like VM.
- AIO does not remove or hide swirls that much. To take care of swirls while using AIO it is recommended to apply AIO first and then the filler. To use it with a swirl remover AIO is applied second. VM is mostly a filler, so it follows AIO right? There's some conflicting opinions here, here and here on whether or not AIO will be removed, but the consensus slightly leans towards no. I intend to use AIO as a cleaner/oxidation remover, so having it removed by a glaze is not that big a deal.
- SG is wipe on/wipe off also. There is/was a mild debate on the application of SG, interesting
. A cure time of at least 24 hrs (1 week is pretty popular) is recommended if you want to layer SG. You can layer S100 on SG as long as you allow SG to cure.
- ColorX is similar to AIO, but not meant to be its competitor according to Mike Phillips. It does reduce swirls some since it is mildly abrasive . Mike's before/after pics are very convincing
.
One unanswered question. Which is stronger (and how much stronger) for oxidation removal, ColorX or AIO? I'm thinking it's about the same.
