So i need help. I own a 04 saturn ion redline supercharged 5sp with 44k on it. We got a 03 suby wrx auto wagon with 91k in today on trade. I can do a straight trade for it. Same payments, owe a lil less on the loan and the insurance stays the same.
I dont know much about subys so any info/input would be much appreciated. Reliable, gas mileage? Last long sense it has 91k already on it? If i get it i have to sign papers tomorrow. Any help???

thats what im leaning towards, thanks for your help Dave.

Ask Todd how that house is holding up (My dad built it, like 3 years ago?) :bigups

I'd say take the WRX, just do some Googling and see if there's any specific stuff you need to watch out for with that year, that amount of miles, the usual really. But I'd take the WRX :rockon

I was actually going to PM you and ask how you like that Ion. I had a 92 SL2 like 2 years ago and it wasn't bad, it was pretty quick for a small car, hugged the corners like mad and was cheap to fill up. I'm really starting to look into a second vehicle and if I get a car, I might go with another Saturn

Lots of things to consider.
1. If you have owned the ION for some time, you probably know the maintenance it has had and the condition it is in.
2. Chances are, you have kept it in good shape cosmetically. How does the WRX compare with it in that area.
3. Do you like the looks of the WRX?
4. Ditto for the ION.
5. Is it a color you like?
6. Do you like the color of the ION?

In the July NADA used car guide, (newest one I have right now), the ION books for about $1150 more money.

For me, the first 6 items would carry more weight than the money difference, but I often keep a car so long that the original price is spread over quite a few years.
If I were you and was happy with the ION, I would probably keep it and save my money for a Magnum. :D

As far as performance and reliability goes, the WRX wins by a landslide. Considering what Charles suggested would be a very good start with your decision.

well AWD is good but you really don't need it.

the WRX has the smaller engine in it 2.2 flat four.

most likely it was owned but a kid who beat on it.. even if doesn't have the go fast parts on it..

I dont care much about the AWD like you said the saturn actually has a smaller engine in it. has a 2.0 SC than the suby with a 2.2 TC. Also i met the previous owner he was 65 years old. He just traveled around allllllllot with his wife. Had every maintaince done on time saw the records and was never beat.

I drove the car home tonight just to see how it feels.

I'd go with the subby :rockon:rockon when you go to resell it, more people will be interested in the subby than a Saturn ..even though the Saturn has less miles ..it's als ogood to know that the subby was adult owned :bigups

i reallly want the subby. im not to worried about the mileage like you said sense it was adult owned. it would be great for my side bus the only thing i dont like is that its a auto. im so use to a manual.
the salesman just called me too. im approved for the car, payments are the same as my sat and its a straight trade no negative added on. i donno what to do

go for it..it's not like these are 50k cars ..you'll get used to the auto and get a chance to see if you'd like to own a newer one in the future :rockon

ya that is true. i do the like auto cuz i sit in alot of traffic coming home. heres are a couple quik pics i took when i got home. i lovvvvve the color and it beats my jet black ion on a dirt road.

You didn't mention that it was the hatch back version. With the new information given, I'd like to ask what you're waiting for?

tell you the truth the only thing that is realllly holding me back is that its a automatic otherwise i absolutely love the car.

not like hard core. prob exhaust, intake, and maybe a bov mechanically then windows, system and that be it. just drive it.

If you're not going to go with a bigger turbo or a better tune, you might want to stick with the stock diverter valve. It will be more efficient than a blow off valve and since you're not going to be running higher boost, it won't damage your engine. Now if you go with a big turbo, injectors, and agressive programming, I'd definitely choose the BOV.
