OK, I was over at site and saw that they had tried Lemon Pledge wax as one of their tests (scroll down, it's near the bottom). This got me to thinking, and I've come up with a new paint protection system that I am going to try tomorrow. Here is my plan:

1. Wash with Murphy's Oil Soap
2. Apply spray-on Pledge and let sit for 30 minutes to "soak in"
3. Wipe off Pledge w/micro fiber cloth
4. Follow with 2 to 5 layers of Lemon Oil
5. Use a feather duster daily to keep the dust down
6. Wash with Murphy's Oil Soap every week, followed by a fresh coat of Lemon Oil

Have I overlooked anthing? Please let me know...
 
What about your tires and rubber trimming?



Well, it looks like Zaino and Klasse are neck and neck on TheWaxTest.com after week 6 (There was a snow storm during week 5).



Zaino Notes:12/04/01: This was one of the only products to survive the snow and ice. After we washed it, the slickness was still there, and it beaded water well. It did the best job of protecting it's "optics" too. We're believers!



Klasse Notes: 12/04/01: While rinsing it for our wash, the panel was sheeting water, which scared us a bit. We figured it would be done beading, too. But after we removed the dirt and grime from the panel, and conducted our bead tests, we were happy to see the paint beading water. Optics down a slight bit, but still doing well after 6 weeks of exposure to the elements.
 
I would not do that "plan". Those products offer no protection from UV rays or any of the elements. The oils in many of those products will probably make a greasy mess on your car, and make a film that my be hard to remove. If you are going to go to all that trouble, use actual car detailing products.
 
Peanut butter on black trim and Pledge furniture polish on the tires. To be honest, Pledge didn't work well for me on paint... just made a greasy mess. Spray a little bit on the towel, and spread it around. DO NOT spray it on the car!



And Simple Green and maybe baby shampoo for the wash ;)



You might want to consider the grading system for the WaxTest. A "C" isn't bad, it just didn't make a difference. A "D" (Pledge) made the paint look worse. And a "B" made a slight improvement.
 
OK, I guess I should explain that my post is a J O K E ! ! !

I would NEVER apply any of these products to my car...well, unless I had one of those PT Cruisers with the aftermarket wooden panels...



Anyway, I thought it was pretty funny that the WaxTest site actually tried some Lemon Pledge on a car panel. If anyone hasn't checked out that site, you should go there and read about the synthetics vs. carnauba test that's going on. They have really done a nice job.



Oh, and for the tires and rubber trim I'm using shoe polish ;)
 
At least they cut the bush at the end of the driveway down before we got back. (my first post was much longer but it accidently got backed out of and i dont feel like re-writing sorry...)

What the? Man, there must have been some nasty bushes you had there. Nice job on the correction.:thumbup:
 
I see this kinda stuff far to often. I dunno what these ppl are thinking. Everyday they come home and drive there car into a bush...HELLO :doh:
