Well, a friend recently got a nice dark blue 05 Legacy GT 2.5 wagon and I noted the moderate dealer-installed swirls and told him that the coat of #26 he put on, while nice, could be done better. Nice car, pretty quick. Diggin' it.
He shows up today and says his friend will be coming by later to get his car done, too... Another 2-week old Subaru. 05 Silver WRX. Love the interior. Didn't need a detailing, but it looks and fits great.
Everyone with the new cars! (I have a 750Li and 545i lined up next week)
The Wagon
Dawn wash (i know, i know... ISO wouldn't strip the wax effectively)
DP Gel wheel cleaner - wheels
DP exterior surface cleaner - wells & tires
Wheels took about an hour. This guy is hard on these for only 500 miles!!
Spot clay. Not in bad shape at all.
Clay like mad - water spots on top surfaces (GRRR)
SSR2.5/Sonus Orange/6 to remove hood swirls and scratches
AIO/Sonus Green/4.5 to remove light swirls on entire car
AIO on plastic bits by hand
SG (man, i gotta learn how to put this on thinner!)
P21S topcoat (mmm, deep!)
303 on wells and tires
NevrDull on tips and mufflers
Stoners IG on glass
Damned process and water spots had me all messed up. Took WAY too long, but it was a whole shade deeper and even better looking than it was to begin with. He was very happy.
The WRX
Z7 Wash
wipe down wheels and wells, very clean
clay top surfaces w/QD and some rocker panel areas
spot AIO some tar and dealer-left plastic protective coating glue (?)
--- clay wouldn't touch the glue, AIO took it right off! ---
2x Z2pro+ZFX / Z8
(including plastic trim, emblems, lamps, glass)
AIO wheels
Meg's Endurance Tire Gel
ArmorAll wheel wells
NevrDull exhaust tip + muffler
Far fewer swirls on this silver beast, even when trying to find them - I decided to skip any machine action and go right to LSP. The car absolutely glowed, dripping wet and metallic popping like nobody's business. The dealer and owner hadn't put anything on the car, so it was a clean slate (minus the contaminants). Nice and easy, just time consuming... It was late by now, but I hope to get some daylight photos... Only one here.
Thanks!
