Stupidity situation!!!!!

Hi everyone,

Beemerboy, Poorboy, Charlesw, Jingerbreadman, and lots more I want you to reply to this thread. Aside from being laid off yesterday, I have another situation to tell you and this is pretty stupid.......hopefully you all would agree.

Now I have a close relative on mine who is a mail carrier for the Post Office. He is in his fifties and he as work at the same post office since 1983 (25yrs)........which is a pretty long time probably he is reaching his retirement soon.

Now, recently I have asked him politely if he can give me a registered to vote application, so that I can give it to one of my friends so he can register to vote and vote this November. Do you know what my relative says who works at the post office?

He gives me a confusing look and says "I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO GET THEM?" What the ffff.........beeeppppp..........

Cmon now, how can you work at the post office for 25yrs and not know where the freaking register to vote is located? damn, only in America sometimes.........stupidity. I have been working in the IT field for about seven years now and when someone ask me to sell them a hard-drive, I know where our hard-drive inventory are located. If my boss ask me to purchase or to acquire a license for Windows XP, I know how to do it. I hate to be a smart alec but cmon now........25yrs working at the post office and you don't even know how to get a register to vote application?gggeeeeesshhh!!!

To really make sure I ask one of my friends if people can get register to vote applications at the post office and he said YOU CAN!!!! Damn!!! I think I should just go to the post office myself and get it for my friend.

Everyone please reply to this thread and help me out, post your opinions. Is this a bit stupid or am I overreacting.

It is too late to register to vote for this election. I believe the deadline was last Tuesday.

As far as the relative goes - He is a mail carrier - maybe he does not know that the applications are in the PO. Or maybe he just doesn't care.

^^ True dat. For example, I work for American Express. Does that mean I know how to submit a credit dispute? Does it mean that I know the risk models that the bank uses to determine credit limits or approval requirements? Maybe my specialty is just in human resources or perhaps I'm just a fraud analyst and don't know the ins and outs of the whole business. I'm not saying that a mail carrier shouldn't know where the voter registration forms are, but perhaps in his line of work he is never in the lobby of the Post Office to know where they are at.

My wife is from California, but not from the part that everybody thinks of. She is from Northern California up by Sacramento. Whenever she tells people where she is from, they will always say "Oh, my cousin lives in LA. His name is _____. Do you know him?" As if Califonia was a small town or a little classroom or something. lol People hear 'California' and they assume you are talking about southern cali and know all of the sites and geography and people. It's just a false assumption that, when you think about it, isn't really logical, but people go there anyway. I'm just saying that it might just be a false assumption that the mail carrier knows where the voter registration forms are just like it might be false to assume that the guy working the counter knows how to open an apartment complex mail box wall. ;)

IMO, you overreacted a little.
That's OK, you have reason to be a little uptight right now. Happens to a lot of us. Mood swings are hard to control or forecast. When you get another job, his lack of knowledge won't bother you at all. :bigups

You might be a bit over-reacting to his answer..but maybe he didn't..I'm surprised every day when I call on companies, and the person that answers the phone can't tell you what they do.

I guess not everyone can be as perfect as we all are:D

I sold wines for many many years. Does that mean I know how to grow the grapes? No! You are down on yourself and taking it out on him. If your friend wants to register to vote then he/she should have done it long ago. Don't take your tough times out on your relative. If you are ever fortunate enough to work at one job for 25 years you will understand.
