Hey guys,

I recently detailed my cousins m3 but I had forgotten to get my AIO so I made do with the consumer meguiars polish. The car was clayed, polish and then 2 coats of NXT. Somehow, I can see the paint is clean and shiny but It does not have the depth it should. There seems to be a lot of hazing, I dont know can someone help

It feels like its missing a cleaner or something, I have meguiars cleaner wax. Now If I detail it again by doing, Wash, Cleaner wax and 2 coats of NXT. Would that work, or is the cleaner wax going to clean away all the polish that I put on before.

thanks

Well, theres really no polish to remove, if you decide to detail it again. The consumer line, (I think your speaking of stage 1 of 3) really is just a cleaner polish, not a rejuvinating type, rich with oils, which is where get the paint vibrancy and richness from. Maybe step up to at least #9 if your doing this by hand, #80 if your using a PC. Theres always come of the popular glazes being used by Autopians also.

I really dont have time to order something right now, is there any products that I can pick up locally that could help me with this.

if you have a napa or auto parts plus by you they carry some of the professional line and may have some #9, az carries #7 so that would be an option too. I've had real good results using #7 and topping with #26.

Start with a small section, try it and see the results.

The finish may need more restoration. The cleaner/wax may be enough. If not, ColorX or ScratchX may do the trick.

PC.

Yeah, when I read "hazing" I think you ougtha use something abrasive. The #9 is awfully mild, but it might help some. I'd go for the Scrach-X myself (well, actually I'd use #80 but it can be hard to find).

#7 will add depth and richness, but it can be tricky to use.

Trying to do a quick fix with locally available products can be tough. Seems like the proper products are seldom the ones that places have in stock. Maybe call around to auto paint/body supply places and see if you can find the #80.

Patrick- IIRC, the Meg's Consumer Step #2 is sorta like a weak version of #7. It's the #1 that does the cleaning. But again, this is just from memory and it's been ages since I used that stuff.

Yup. DC step1 is the cleaner (a really mild one, pretty much zero cutting action). DC step 2 is a pure polish/glaze (definitely no cutting action).

PC.

Maybe hazing is the wrong word. Well its definately not that bad at all, It has very few swirls but its just that it does not seem deep. The color is carbon Swarts mettalic on the M so that might be it. I'm gonna clean it and go over it with some cleaner wax and top it off with 2 coats of NXT. And see otherwise AIO it is.

thanks....

Will the consumer line polish be good enough to protect till I can get some AIO on it. I guess the wax does the protecting anyway.

thanks

I wouldnt NXT over cleaner wax, as NXT is a sealant which doesn't bond too well over carnubas. Definetly go for #26 over #7, 7 can be a PITA to remove sometimes, but itll give you significant added depth and wetness. Drop the NXT and consumer cleaner wax altogether.

At this point, I'd just go over what you've done with some Meg's #26 Paste. AutoZone has had it at .99 cents!!! It's a great wax.......and for .99 cents............it's a great value!!

thanks guys, I used 7 and topped it with 26 and I have to say it looks nice now...thanks for the heads up on the 99 cent 26 paste......

Is there products like 26 that I should add to my normal detailing stuff
