Well this weekend I decided to detail my car. After claying I discovered a chip almost dead centre of my roof about the size of a fingernail clipping and more felt like it was through the primer.
I applied the factory touch-up paint (Honda) and gave it about 14hrs. At the same time I also went and added paint to most of the other little chips I found around the car.
I used the wet sanding technique detailed on this website and using 1200grit wet and dry, followed by 3M Perfect It III, Meg's Paint Cleaner, Megs Scratch-X, then wax was content with the results of all repairs except the roof. I made the mistake of not raising my eyelevel to directly above the repair area and fear I've majorly f'kd-up.
First I ended up with the appearance of two dents either side of the touch up paint as described in several posts ( http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27459&highlight=gouge and more recently
http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=66047 )
I then went and painted more touch-up paint on, and after a few hours wet sanded again, (this time standing on a work stand and leaning over the roof, and still wasn't satisfied. So I tried again and this is the s*ity mess I've left myself with. I dared not wetsand, or polish with the 3M PI III any more because I couldn't be sure if the dark areas I was exposing was basecoat. I have a feeling it is.

I've ordered the Langka Kit mainly so I can remove all the touch up paint and see what damage I've caused, (plus I'll give it a go on all subsequent chips).
To my eye's it's as ugly, and as obvious of a bird bomb on the roof, so I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that a complete respray of the roof will be the only way to fix this. Is that the same opinion that you guys would have?
Cheers,
