Streak on windshield

I have an area on my windshield that is driving me nuts! There is a slanted vertical strip on the glass that matches up with where a windshield wiper must have been laying. It is only visible when moisture is present such as when I go to work early in the morning or if I pass a damp towel over it (which will cause it to be visible for a few moments). I've tried glass cleaner, Klasse, vinegar, Prepsol, Clay, Purple Power, and a razor blade. None of them made any headway whatsoever. The last thing I tried was some rubbing compound which "may" have done something but I didn't get to examine the results yet. It is definitely on the outside, but the only way I could tell is by feeling the slightest bit of resistance when using the razor blade.

The glass is new (07), and has been treated with Aquapel (not sure if the streak was there before or after the Aquapel treatment).

Any input would be greatly appreciated (I do have a Flex but have never polished glass before for what it may be worth). Can I harm the glass with rubbing compound?

thanks

If that doesn't work(the compound and flex) try Z12 Zaino's glass polish. I have used it to remove some of the worst water spots on glass so it might work for this as well.

Some times buff with Cerium Oxide will work, however 90% of the time you just make one hell of a mess. The best thing is to do is to replace your windshield, and then from their on out replace your wipers on a regular basis. Also never leave your windhsheild wipers in the up position.
