Does caranuba waxes go bad after a period of time.

Do you guys store you caranuba like Blitz, Colloinite, etc in your fridge ?

I know with liquids like Zaino, Meguiars #9, etc, they generally last like 3 years.

I have some bottles of Meguiar's Polish, Carnauba Wax, and Car Wash that came from the early 1980's and are still good (they're 95% full still!) :)

they were stored in a non-climate controlled garage.

Given their cost, why not treat it like a fragile wine? I keep my stuff cellared where the seasonal range might be 40 to 65 degrees and the day-to-day range almost doesn't change. I would have a hard time believing my stuff wouldn't remain useful longer than something stored in a trunk or garage. I would think a refrigerator would be fine (maybe a little desiccating in time though)?

I would try to keep products someplace dark, reasonably cool, and not dry or damp. I also have some very old liquid products (*cough*NuFinish*cough*) that still work fine after being stored on a basement shelf near the ceiling (ie, not always cool). Same goes for some shampoos and an ancient can of tar remover that my dad bought.

Paste products in a tin can dry out, crack, and harden though. Depending on how often you use it (and thus how soon you'll use it up), you may want to consider sealing them up and refrigerating them. Just make absolutely sure they won't freeze (like in the bottom back of the fridge for me).

Well, according to Zymol (I know it's your favorite wax...) all paste waxes should be refridgerated and liquid waxes should not. They also say that liqud waxes have a shelf life of 18 months.

As the owner of some 70+ waxes now, I store most of them in a RubberMaid tub in the basement. The one's that I really care about (P21S, Souveran, Paste Glaz, etc) get a nice little spot in the wine cellar.

ejant, stuff disappear from your detailing collection too? Does everyone also say "I didn't take it" then they all suddenly have shiny vehicles also??? This happens in my house all teh time

What do we obsessive detailers do with all of the products we accumulate?

I'm a store in a cool dark secton of the basement person myself Had no problems with either Paste or Liquid waxes even after a few years. I have a nearly empty can of Meguiars #26 that has been going on for 3 years. Still acts like new. But it's now getting up to 3 shelves in size. Gotta stop, but there's something new I just HAVE to have.
