Storage of Velcro backing plate?

Being somewhat lazy by nature, I got in the habit of leaving my Meguiar's velcro backing plate on my PC when putting things away. This sometimes resulted in the ege of the backing plate being slightly distorted from pressing against the side of my storage case. It wasn't much, but the velcro hook material isn't much either. Could this result in the velcro backing plate not gripping the pads as well as it should? Although I haven't had that problem, several people have. :dunno
I now take the plate off and store it flat on the bottom of the case. It went back to its original shape with no problem.
Just a thought.

It is possible the velcro could become disconnected from the backing plate due to improper storage. If the backing plate in squeezed, after time the velcro could bubble and when removing a pad the pull could produce enough to cause seperation.

I store my backing plate on my PC in the original cardboard box.

I had a similar problem with the velcro backing plate on the rotary. It had been a long time since it saw any use and when I picked it up a few weeks ago (to bring to Poorboys detailing day) I noticed the edge of the backing plate was quite deformed. Luckily, I have a second plate so I put that on and let the deformed one sit face down in the cabinet. Happily, after a couple weeks the deformed side has worked its way back and is like new again.
