I went to the mall last night and then out to the movies with my wife. This morning I noticed that my chrome valve stem caps were missing, all of them. They are aftermarket custom with the "H2" insignia on them. Not the end of world buut I am Pi$$ed off about it. :furious: I place an order today for new ones. I got the theft detterent ones. It looks like a little key of sorts to remove them with.

Doesn't anyone leave anything alone!! Its always the people who take good care of their stuff and have pride in its appearance that get the shaft! :hairpull

Yeah, I had that happen to me a few times years ago...I even had a regular black plastic one turn up missing recently, and I am pretty OCD about keeping them tight...it could have cracked and come off, but I dunno...

Intercooled, yeah I have a quite a few sets stolen and those were nothing special. The coloured ones you get at Walmart for about $2.50 for a set and even the bonus plastic chrome ones that I got with the digital tyre pressure gauge.

I ordered some Chrysler & 300C logo caps which are awaiting the arrival of my Chrysler 300C in November. I will use a wrench to nip them up tight to slow down the thieves.

I've had that happen several times to me also and it irritates the hell out of me. I just had regular chrome caps and they probably only cost about $3.00 for a set, but it's iritating that someone thinks it's okay toviolate your personal property. :grrr

Yeah it is annoying, but when I was young I am guilty of taking a set or two to put on my bike. The ones I have now have a square shape and can be tightened up with a wrench beyond finger tight.

Thats the main reason that I opted not to have them on my wheels when I refinished them. The finisher had those nice caps on, and I insisted that he change them to the generic black cheapies, because I knew that they would not last one day!

Ashame, but it seems like (often enough) you just can't have nice things around certain people.

yo those locking ones will werk perfect. also like someone said u can use a wrench to tightn them but make sure u keep a wrench in the car!!!

click me!!

:har: :bigups like those?

I had a set of the Chev Bowtie caps on my Holden a few years back and had the value stem collars so the caps locked on nice and tight with a wrench. One was not tight enough it seems as I had one pinched at a shopping centre.

I agree with all the other comments about cretins that do not respect other people's property.

I have valve caps that aren't even caps technically . They are a very complicated system where the air hose goes onto the cap but no cap is removed for inflation . If there is not enough air pressure going into them the secondary valve will not open for more than a second or so when the valve opening is depressed , so no one can drain my tires either .

They were about $8 a piece and are stainless . I polished them up nicely to match my chrome better and attached them with loc-Tite blue to the actual stem threads ...

You have to watch these. I would recomend taking them off. This is why, my grandpa had a set on his Avalon and one day after going to the mall he went out and found a tire flat. After having it towed to a tire shop, they knew right away what the problem was, the valve stem caps (like yours). What happens with them sometimes is the valve opens and sticks open and releases all the air. IMO its not worth having them. Just check your tires every once in a while at a gas station with free air.

Edit: After rereading your post I realized your not talking about the ones I was thinking of. The ones I am thinking of are like red and green and have a set tire pressure, say 32 and will release pressure when it reaches over 32 psi.

I had my car at dealer for reper, and all my change was gone except lincolns :) (:

yeah, that's why everytime i go to the dealership to get an oil change/repair, i empty EVERYTHING out of the car until i get home and then put everything back in.

:har: :har: :har: :har: thats so funny!! whats this world come to when even the dealer steals all your change........aint it bad enough you allready pay the dealer 1/4 your income all your life!! HAHA

sad sad world. :angry

I've had the same chrome ones on my chrome wheels for five years now, bought them when I bought the wheels. I've been fortunate to only have one break-in, where they got my amp, subwoofer, box, wiring, etc. and fried my head unit by jumbling up the wiring.

Thanks to Audiovox and a whole jungle of sensors, horn honk, and dual sirens, I have yet to have anything else happen to my truck (knock on wood!).

It happened to me!! Some years back, I was commuting and using tokens for the tolls. I took the car to the dealer and forgot to take the tokens out of the car door pocket. The dealer service tech did himself a favor (I guess) and removed them for me. Too bad he didn't tell me what he did with them. Gotta love some types...

I always remove all my stuff before taking my car in too. Although sometimes I put my service manuals in the front seat just in case they could help the mechanic in any way. The guys that work on my car are really nice about keeping the car as clean as possible, as they know how I am about it.

I got chrome lugs and "chrome" valve stem caps with my new wheels from TireRack. They sent me these plastic caps that really do look like chrome from more than a few feet away. I haven't had them stolen, but I think someone may have tried (as in, took them off, realized they were plastic, and put them back on). I always tighten them up good, but yesterday when I checked my air pressure, 2 of them were looser than the others.

Agreed... I do the same, though I also take the added step of covering the seats, carpet, steering wheel, shfter, etc. in plastic to prevent grubby grease-marks all over everything.
