Stinky Floormats

So I just bought some new floormats, but they smell like burned rubber.

Is there anything I can use to get rid of this awful odor?

Thanks.

Try giving a wash with a diluted dish soap. Airing them out should help, e.g. leave outside in sunny area. After about a week the smell should be less and hopefully tolerable, it should eventually go away.

I bought rubber floor mats back in December, so I could take out the carpeted mats that came with my car for the winter. They had kind of a funky smell, too. I just washed them with my regular car wash soap, using a stiff brush. I hung them outside for a couple of days, and when I washed my car again, the mats got the same treatment. I hung them outside again until dry, and they were good to go into the car then.

I feel your pain. I used to stock rubber floor mats when the shipments came in for my department (automotive) when I worked at a large retail store. I swear I could smell that specific odor on me until I took a shower after getting off work!

I had some expensive mats form my BMW that did the same thing. It took months for that odor to go away. I think I finally took mine out of the car and let them cure in the outside air for a month and it finally quit
