Steroids?

Just One More Coat
I see that they just found out that track star Marion Jones, admits to the use of steroids.

My feelings are what is behind us is just that...if the rules where in place at the time and they denied it, to find out later that was a lie, then they should be stripped of any prize they were awarded.

If they have deemed this to be bad, then take a no tolerance position on this..You get caught you are out..I don't care who you are...stop dancing around the issue

I was quite sadden by the news of Floyd Landis found using performance enhancing drugs in last years Tour de France...just another person dragging pro-sports threw the mud.

As I stated issue a statement to all pro-level sports that there will be a no tolerance to any performance enhancing drugs and if caught, your out!

Any thoughts on this?

The whole steriods and HGH stuff came about because of baseball. What drove me nuts was baseball saying that it could not suspend players back in ie 2001 because is was not tested, therefore you could not be punished for it. Yet those products on their own are illegal (unless perscribed).

I like what cycling did, and that was strip him of his tour de france victory and he was removed from the record books. But that can be done because it was a test for one event. I am not sure how you would do this in baseball, or in any seasoned sport event.

The other problem is that if baseballs punichment were like the olympics and or cycling, and a one time and your out, then it might be taken a bit more seriously.

Furthermore, if you have a player who plays for a team you root for, and he does poorly after the steriods then everyone jumps on him. Yet if the player comes off and does well, the fan is very quick to forget.

Lance Armstrong was one of the most tested pro athletic on the face of the earth at one point in his carrier, and not once tested positive, according to his two books that I read they tried.

In any pro-sport, they can setup a regular test for the substances that they deem to be illegal..if caught then take them out...It will change the face of the way athletic look at performance enhancing products

I agree testing should be done. The other problem is that they are out to create performance enhancing drugs that are not detectable.

Look at professional swimming. When we go to large meets, they have drug testing stations set up and you are tested right there. USA Swimming has taken a very agressive stance on drug use. Each club team is required to communicate with all their swimmers what substances are considered illegal. We let them know that at higher level meets, they can be disqualified and banned from swimming if they are caught with any of them in their system.

Bravo to pro-swimming.....cycling is taking the same stance...our pro-sports like football and baseball..should take the same position...

juice is easy to get if you really want it and it can make an ordinary athlete a star athlete with a few shots a week .. very tempting for athletes who cant compete with those taking it . like they say in the gym ..if you aint takin it you aint makin it ...it will never go away because the risk is worth the rewards ..just ask jason giambi .. multi millionare .. barry bonds ..they all made millions of dollars off of a few hundred worth of juice ..

That's why they should have a no tolerance to it...or the other way let them all use it

This is becoming the problem.... drugs not being detected!!
I find it very sad that the old timmers records are being broke like in baseball for instance where the baseball is made to go farther because people paying for tickets want to see homeruns and players are juiced.
Any record broke that finds a trail from roids should be VOID and stripped from that person.
Its all about $$ like most everything in this world.
A little off topic but our government has the ability to cure many diseases with stem cell but the revenue losses in doing so would be great. Back to my statement its all about $$. Screw the people that worked hard to get there records and screw the sick people because its all about $$.
