Sterling Grey X5

A friend of mine's car. Only 3 months old but still over 8000 miles on it. No real issues with the paint except the standard issue dealer induced buffer mark here and there and a few light swirls, hence I didn't take any before shots.

Exterior:

Wash SS&S

AG Clean Wheels

Spot clay with #34

SSR2.5/Meg's burgandy

Blue PwC by hand

EX by hand

PB Trim Restorer

AG Fast Glass

Hyperturismo's Wheel Wax

Meg's Endurance High Gloss tyre dressing

Interior:

PB Natural Look Dressing

TW Platimum Leather Cleaner/Conditioner

AG Interior Shampoo

AG Fast Glass

This is the first detail I've had to do in the sun and have to say I'm really impressed how well the PB products work. I imagine having to do serious paint correction might be a bit tricky but everything else was fine. Even leaving the EX on for an hour in direct sunlight made no difference to how easy it was to remove.

Even though I say so myself, I think it looks really wet!

I got the bits of crap off the mats before I left!

Ben.

Great work as ever Ben.

Did you use the Poorboys trim restorer on the window rubbers etc? Looking for something to do bits like that.

Rich,

This X5 had the high gloss shadow line option which means there aren't any exposed rubbers. When there are I ususally use PB Natural Look or AG Vinyl and Rubber.

How does the PB Natural Look compare to the AG

It's got a slightly thicker consistency so it's easier to control where it goes. It also dries a bit quicker and leaves (IMO) and much nicer finish. I've always thought AG leaves a bit too much 'sheen'.

excellent work, Ben. It really looks good. I bet the owner was ecstatic with the end result.

Is the clear on the x5 hard? the girlfriend's sister's boyfriend(lol) is getting one soon, and wants me to detail it for him.

thanks

Paul

Wet doesn't come close to describing the paint on that X5. :bow

I agree about Poorboy's in the sun. I did a couple more vehicles at that law office in full sun today and had to remove some light buffer trails from the hood (body work done in early spring) and SSR2 worked just fine in removing them (washed the area down) on a 95 degree day. PB's is a real lifesaver on sunny days.

Awesome job! :up

I really like the metal-like covers on the runners. I haven't seen them here in the U.S.

Very Very, nice. I have bad luck w/ PB Natural look on exterior trim. It always runs with the slightest moisture, even dew from overnight has caused it to run and streak. I love it for interior dressing though.

Not tried the Natural look on anything but my dash ar interior trim. But will try it in a bit.

Inside it leaves a totally factory look to the plastics.

Forgot to add that my friends partner has just started a cleaning supplies company and gave me a box of 10 microfibres that she's just started stocking to try out, which I thought was pretty cool. They don't seem bad either!

Shadow Line has nothing to do with rubber/weatherstripping. It refers to dechroming the window frames. In the former days, it meant complete dechroming, where even the kidney-frames were flat black.

Ben, that truly is a jaw dropping detail on the X5. It does go to show that with the proper prep and combo of products silver can look amazing. I was wondering like Spilchy if the metal look running boards are a European feature? I haven't seen any that look that here, very cool looking.

Great work!
