What would you charge for a 2007 4 door black BMW 335i? And last question what would be your steps ideally?

Have been following alot of threads and post just wanted some input on this. Have also been doing some work for a while wanted to just hear thoughts?

:thx B

well first off it depends on exactly what the owner wants or what you also feel the vehicle needs.

Full Detail (Inside & Out)

Just Exterior

Full paint Correction

Single Step etc . . . .

also. what products do you have and we can help you determine what to use from what you currently have.

That 335i needs some serious work. Most likely though you will need to hit that thing with some Meguiars #105

Polishes/compounding I have Menzerna Power Gloss, and SIP for finishing I have Nano Polish, Final Polish II, PO85RD, and PO203S, Also have the glaze and FMJ... Waxes PS21S and BlackFire use the Flex 3401

I think what VTEC is trying to get at is what does the owner want. I've come across many clients with defective paint like that and they still think that it just needs to be waxed. Do they want a clean up or a full correction type detail? You have to answer that question first; that could be the difference between a $200 detail or a $900 detail depending on how far the owner is willing to go with it. If it's a DD then they probably don't want to spend north of $600, but you never know. I always charge by the hour on anything more than a wash, clay, and seal.

The owner of the car gave me a day start at 8 in the morning till 4 in the after noon... The owner wanted it to just pop more in which i ended up using SIP w/ LC Orange and 85RD w/ LC Black.... It was not full correction considering time and amount spent after that proceeded with FMJ and #845

Looks a lot better. If all the owner want is for it to pop more and minimize the swirls then that's what you give them. I always email pictures during the detail so they can see what's going on. I'll sometimes go with a full correction on a very small section and they're so pleased they end up opting to go with 100% correction. Looks like you achieved your goal of pleasing the client though, glad it's working well for ya.

PG, SIP, 203 with orange, white, blue

will take about 12-15 hours, charge 600+

I just did that exact car, but in sapphire black

Powergloss? Shoot, will you have any clearcoat left after PG has done its job :nervous2:

cut is about the same as 105 right? but dusts a lot more...I have used a gallon before, and make the switch from PG to HTEC to 105 - 105 is here to stay!

i dont have a paint meter, but someone did orange, 105, 1200rpm and it only took off 1.5 microns of paint on a lambo, not overly hard paint, but not soft either! with average paint jobs from the factory, you can do that overall combo about 10 times before hitting the paint through the clear, no? I thought on average, paint jobs are about 30/30/30 or 40/40/40...primer/base/clear

besides, defects are as deep as they are deep. you need to get to the bottom of them to remove so you might as well get there fast! a R.I.D.S. at 2microns deep with either need 2 rounds of 105 or 8 rounds of SIP (lets say), so which are you going to do when the goal is complete removal? 5 minutes with 105 or 15 minutes with SIP? you are removing the same amount of clear with either process...

I think PG has FAR more cut than 105 - that stuff is nasty (PG) ; I threw my bottle out.

It usually removes 10-14microns in an application or two.

One of my friends did a test - pointed a laser light on a spot on the door panel, measured it, did the door panel with PG, checked the exact same point (hence the laser light) and had shaved off 14microns  I remember reading on here somebody checked their work after PG and had shaved off 11.

Well face it, to get a level surface you have to remove enough to reflect back evenly. If it requires 10-14 microns of removal, you gotta do it if your seeking full correction.

Wash, clay and correct: M105 on wool (rotary)>M105 on W8207 Soft Buff 2.0 polishing(G110)>M205 on W9207 Soft Buff 2.0 finishing(G110). Top with LSP of choice (M16/Souveran/Natty's Red).

True, but (and this is very un-autopean of me) if 10-14microns is full correction should probably shoot for 2-4micron removal and 70% correction and just live with the RIDs until next polishing session in a year or two. Unless we're talking about a show car that'll get repainted anyways down the road, 10-14micron in 1 sitting is just, well, :wow:

Who wants 70% correction now a days when you can get 95-98% on most cars. 10-14 microns is a lot but if the owner wants full correction then you do what you gotta do. Although most times you should be able to remove a lot less than that and still get the results. 10-14 for correction is RARE.
